This is one of the most humbling sights at Lourdes: the sick and those who care for them, coming through the procession together. It’s a reminder that support, dignity, and community matter—especially when life is heavy.

This is a replica of St. Bernadette’s coffin in Lourdes. It’s a gentle way to connect with her life and legacy—because the original is kept in Nevers, the French town where St. Bernadette worked as a nun and spent her later years.

The procession moves through the grounds… and then the night Mass holds everything in place. I went back for just a few more shots… and I’m so glad I did. Lourdes at night is breathtaking. From the top of the church, you can feel the devotion in the crowd. Look how beautiful it is from above.

Pyrenees, here I come 🌿🏔️
I didn’t plan this at all… it was a spur-of-the-moment decision, and my taxi driver was more than happy to drive me up into the mountains—about an hour from Lourdes.

The return journey to my hotel only cost €100, but it was worth every penny and more. The views were absolutely stunning—rolling French Pyrenees scenery stretching toward the border of France and Spain.

Quick heads up though: the roads are windy. Not for someone with motion sickness, and definitely not after a full stomach.

Next up in Lourdes—my favourite French restaurant: L’Embarcadère. It’s only about 8 minutes by taxi from Lourdes, and it’s an absolute must if you love the very best of French cuisine. The atmosphere is beautiful, but the real highlight is the food—proper French flavours, and if you love seafood, you’re going to be so happy you came. Don’t skip this when you’re in Lourdes.

There’s something special about visiting the places that shaped a person—especially when that person changed lives far beyond their hometown.
St. Bernadette’s family home feels quiet, real, and full of meaning.

Today we’re stepping into St. Bernadette’s family home—her beginnings, where she lived her younger years.

What makes it even more real is how close it is to the grotto: the house is about a 10–15 minute walk from the Grotto, where Mother Mary appeared to her while she was outdoors.

If you’ve ever needed a reminder that faith can start in everyday places, this is it—quiet, meaningful, and full of atmosphere.

Mini train day around Lourdes = an easy, budget-friendly way to explore beyond the church grounds. Perfect for families, elderly, solo travellers, and anyone who wants to explore more of the local area around town without over-planning.

This is my favourite kind of shop—wine, cheese, French specialties, and dried meat heaven. Between all the souvenir stores, this one felt like the local goods spot I’d been looking for.
