Before choosing a customs route, ask what your provider is actually authorised to do.

At NG Terminal, our Heathrow operation includes:
• AEO status
• An External Temporary Storage Facility (ETSF)
• A Customs Warehouse
• An in-house customs team

Those terms matter because each part of the route has a different job.

Terms such as “parts”, “samples” or “accessories” may not be enough for the pre-arrival data sent through ICS2.

For e-commerce operators, the fix should start with the product data — not at the border.

Before Q4, review your highest-volume EU-bound SKUs and make sure the seller, warehouse and carrier are using clear, consistent descriptions.

HMRC advised affected businesses to apply by 31 July because checks can take more than 45 working days. Applications after that point may not be ready when VPD starts on 1 October.
