The Castle, Harrow on the Hill. In the GBG.
For some reason not many pubs in North West OuterLondon get into the Guides. And in the past this Classic has struggled for appropriate recognition. I've been a fan since visiting before a Wembley final in 1989 or '90. The owners have plans to add improvements to the already awesome beer garden so this summer should be it's best ever.

It goes without saying that the beers in the pubs will change over time. My mission is to focus on the basic facts like the overall feel and comfortability of the pubs involved. The Harlequin for example hasn't changed from the place described in the Guide in either of these criteria. Emphasis on Real Cask Ale and more modern Craft Beer is of course an expected feature of any pub in the Guides, particularly the Beer Guide. I'm unlikely to investigate a pub without this tbh. Obviously the more interesting posts will feature places that have changed or even disappeared, as sad as that may be. We live in uncertain economic times and these businesses often rely on generous lenders to continue trading. They are liable to close and indeed re open at any moment.
So, if u like a place, support it as much as you can. It might not be there one day!😃
