At The London Heliport, we take our role in the local community seriously.

Our Fly Neighbourly policy is designed to reduce noise and minimise disruption for nearby residents. Most flights follow designated routes directly over the River Thames, avoiding built-up areas when possible.

In addition:

• All aircraft climb and descend as quickly and safely as possible to minimise low-level noise

• Rotor running on the ground is limited to a maximum of 5 minutes

• Turns and approaches are carefully managed to avoid sharp manoeuvres and overflying homes

Seeing a new aircraft type touch down at Battersea never gets old. The H160 represents the very latest in modern helicopter design and it was a pleasure to welcome it in.

A Look Back Through the Archives 🚁

Since 1959, we’ve been a vital part of London’s aviation landscape - connecting people and places efficiently and safely.

We first opened our doors on 23 April 1959, with the very first landing, a Westland Widgeon Series 2 - taking place a few weeks earlier on 8 April. Located on the south bank of the Thames in Battersea, we remain the only CAA-licensed heliport serving central London.

Over the decades, we’ve supported not only business and leisure travel but also critical operations such as air ambulances, police flights and emergency services - something we’re incredibly proud to continue today.

As we look back through the years, our mission remains unchanged: to provide safe, efficient and seamless access into the heart of London, just as we’ve done since 1959.

One of the most unique helipad locations in the world?

Our landing pad here at The London Heliport sits on a jetty extending out over the River Thames - meaning aircraft arrive and depart directly above the water, in the heart of London.

It is a setting unlike almost anywhere else in aviation and it has been operating exactly like this since 1959.
