Route 111 has been operated by London United from Hounslow Garage since it was created 78 years ago. Today however sees that long chapter come to a close. For the first time in its history London United, despite converting the route to New Routemaster operation in August lost the 111 on tender to Abellio who take over its operation tomorrow. It’s a huge loss for Hounslow Garage.
LT’s will continue for the time being, but they’ll give way to brand new Wright Electroliners from October.

Abellio London ADL Enviro400EV 3408 is pictured in King’s Cross at the end of a route 63 journey. These are the latest batch of electric buses to hit the streets of London in 2021, but they are the first to be built to TfL’s “future bus” specification. These buses feature new blinds, more comfortable high back seating, USB sockets at every seat and wooden flooring effect which creates a better passenger experience.

Route 63 has been operated out of Go-Ahead London’s Peckham Garage since 1954, however today sees the end of its 67 year stay there. The route transfers to Abellio London who have ordered a new batch of Enviro400 EV’s which will be the first to be delivered to TfL’s “future bus” spec.

Meanwhile, here’s a selection of photos of the outgoing allocation on the 63, which was a batch of MCV EvoSeti’s ordered at the last contract renewal in 2016.

Over the past couple of months, a number of routes operating outside of Central London have been converted to New Routemaster operation thanks to various PVR cuts on central London routes. Route 111 converted to New Routemaster operation in August, however this conversion will be short lived as the route was lost on tender to Abellio who will use new electric double deckers when they take over the 111 at the end of April. Pictured on Bath Road, Heathrow are LT148, LT91 and LT86.

LT’s are no stranger to the Heathrow area since the N9 transferred to Stamford Brook back in 2018, the 111 becomes the second route serving Heathrow to gain them.

RATP in Purley…but all is not what it seems.

On loan to Metrobus Croydon, London United ADL Enviro200 DE20022 (temporarily known as OM1 to cover a MetroCity on the S1) made a rare appearance on the 359 today. It is pictured leading a line of two Arriva buses in Purley.

Following the loss of route 315 to Abellio, the SEN’s that were previously allocated to it have now moved to Metrobus for school extras.

SEN43 has moved to Croydon and is pictured in Coulsdon on the 434 while SEN41, returning to a Metrobus garage after 5 years swaps south London for Orpington and is pictured in Downe on the R8.
