SriLankan Airlines currently has some slightly crazy fares to the Maldives.

I don’t think they are a mistake, because they are restricted to the next month or so.

You can fly from Heathrow to Male for £1,198 return. This is a crazy price, especially as Heathrow taxes and Air Passenger Duty take well over £300 of that.

What credit or debit card should you get if you want to redeem for flights with a Star Alliance airline? Let’s find out.

We have updated this article for October 2026 because of a major market development – there is now a UK Miles & More debit card.

Lufthansa has just launched the Miles & More Debit Card, and it has an attractive ‘1 mile per £1’ earning rate for UK spending. Click here to apply.

Is it your best option though, given the £180 annual fee? Let’s take a look.

‘Tis the season to re-imagine your service patterns.

Delta is the latest airline to completely redesign its dining experience. Singapore Airlines is introducing new menus, dining wear, sleepwear and bedding in November whilst British Airways has totally overhauled its First Class service.

Delta has now unveiled what it is calling a ‘new era of Delta One’, the name it gives its long haul business class experience. It will launch ahead of a new Delta One Suite, with a door, that will fly on future A350-1000 deliveries starting next year.

Mobile check-in is becoming increasingly common with the big hotel chains.

You can check-in via the hotel app, often selecting the exact room you want from a floor plan, and then (depending on brand and country) go straight to your room without bothering the front desk.

I’ve never been too happy with this. Some people believe that an early online check-in will stop you being upgraded. You may miss out on any vouchers or offers handed out by the front desk.

It also doesn’t always work, as I found out at the Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport last Thursday! You end up standing outside your door waving your phone towards the door and wondering why nothing happens ....

However, you can occasionally use mobile check-in to salvage some value from a prepaid hotel room when you can no longer make it.

If you find yourself with a hotel room, pre-paid, which you now can't use, it may be worth doing mobile check-in anyway in an attempt to get your loyalty points.

In this article I want to look at what happens to your British Airways Club tier points at the end of your membership year.

If you’ve already read our guide on what British Airways tier points are, you’ll know that they are the way of tracking your progress towards elite status with British Airways.

The more tier points you have, the higher up the ladder you can climb and the more rewards are open to you, such as complimentary lounge access, free seat selection and more.

“How to get a discount on Gatwick airport car parking” is a difficult and long-winded question.

This article has a particular focus on the ‘miles and points’ angles but there should be an option for everyone below.

We ran a similar article on the best deals on Heathow airport car parking in August which is here.

SAS EuroBonus, the loyalty scheme for Scandinavian airline group SAS, has brought back its status match.

You can use your British Airways Club status to get a direct elite match into the EuroBonus programme. This includes giving EuroBonus Diamond status to The British Airways Club Gold members.

Your elite status will be valid across all 18 airlines in the SkyTeam alliance, including Virgin Atlantic.

‘You First’ is a dedicated call centre set up to help anyone holding a British Airways First Class ticket.

Not many people know it exists, which is a shame because – irrespective of the wait times at the main British Airways call centre – telephone calls to ‘You First’ are generally answered quickly.

The last time I used it was at the height of the pandemic when getting an airline to answer your call required a minor miracle. I got through within 30 seconds and within five minutes my tickets were changed following a cancellation.

‘You First’ is by far your best opportunity to get an affected flight rebooked or refunded.

Different airlines have different approaches to how long they let you keep status when you earn it. In this article, I want to look at how long your British Airways Club status lasts.

The length of your membership period is the same, regardless of whether you’re Bronze, Silver or Gold status. Blue membership is the base tier and therefore cannot expire.

The length of your elite status depends on when you achieved it. However, you are guaranteed at least a year of usage, with many people managing to get 18-23 months.

We take a look at how long you can use your British Airways Bronze, Silver or Gold status until it expires. It is a surprisingly generous system.
