Celebrating Black History across London ❤️🚂

This Tube map celebrates the people, places and stories that have shaped London’s Black history, from the Georgians and Victorian era through to the present day.

Designed by historian Foster in collaboration with our team and Black Cultural Archives, the Black History Tube map showcases significant moments in Black British History, as well as African and Caribbean heritage. The names of lines have also been renamed to link them by common themes: the Bakerloo line represents sport, Central line the arts, Metropolitan line Physicians and Jubilee line LGBT+.

Among the brilliant people part of this map, four were London transport workers.

Recognising a silent distress signal can make all the difference. 💙

An 18-year-old woman travelling on the Tube was subjected to unwanted attention and inappropriate physical contact from a man she had encountered on her journey.

As they exited the station, she spotted Callum, a Customer Service Assistant, and repeatedly used the Signal for Help by opening her palm, closing her fingers and trapping her thumb.

Callum recognised the signal, immediately stepped in and separated the woman from the man, helping to bring her to safety.

Thanks to Callum’s vigilance and swift action, the woman was supported and the incident was reported. Enquiries are now underway to identify the man, with CCTV being reviewed.

Callum was also nominated by the British Transport Police's Assistant Chief Constable, Charlie Doyle, for a Safeguarding Commendation.

Oxford Street is becoming traffic-free 🚶‍♂️

From Monday 26 October, the section between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street will be traffic-free.

All traffic, including buses, private cars, taxis, cycles, pedicabs and scooters will be diverted from the evening of Sunday 25 October 🚗🚲🚌

Nearby Tube and rail stations include Bond Street, Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Marble Arch. Buses will also continue to serve the area via nearby roads.
