In the space of a few days, the UK has gone from having a Mediterranean summer,

to an Amazonian monsoon. And climate chance is going to ensure our weather

continues to be "interesting" in years to come.

Which is why it's a good time to consider investing in some sort of weather-related

gadgets. Autumn months will soon be on their way, getting outside will be trickier,

and we'll need to keep abreast of the conditions, however extreme or benign they

turn out to be.

Brief break from rain as sunshine returns for weekend

After the spell of showery weather earlier this week, a strong area of high pressure

is set to bring bright and sunny weather to much of the UK this weekend.

Daytime temperatures will feel pleasantly warm - though a long way off from the

record heat experienced earlier this month.

Nights are expected to be mostly clear, leading to a significant temperature

contrast from morning lows to afternoon highs.

While Saturday and Sunday will bring a brief break from the rain for many,

unsettled weather will return early next week.

Continental adds 32mm width to its Aero 111 tyre line-up

New wider tyre is claimed to deliver the same aero gains as current 26mm and

29mm widths

Continental has added a 32mm width to its Aero 111 aerodynamic front tyre range.

The Aero 111 was previously available in only two widths: 26mm and 29mm. It was

developed with Swiss Side and DT Swiss, and can be bought ready-fitted to some

DT Swiss and Swiss Side performance wheelsets. It's specced in a 26mm width on

some Canyon Aeroad bikes.

It’s a front-wheel specific tyre, with its ‘vortex generator’ slotted tread pattern

claimed to delay flow separation around the tyre and wheel, thus reducing

aerodynamic drag and enhancing the sailing effect. It’s typically paired with the

Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR rear tyre, which itself is now available in widths

up to 35mm.
