The Luxor Temple, also known by its ancient Egyptian name Ipet-resyt meaning "the southern sanctuary", is a large Ancient Egyptian temple complex located on the east bank of the Nile River in the city today known as Luxor (ancient Thebes) . It was constructed approximately 1400 BCE.
Unlike other Egyptian temples in Thebes, Luxor temple is not dedicated to a cult god or a deified version of the Pharaoh in death. The temple was built over hundreds of years by Amenhotep III, Ramses II, Tutankhamun, and other pharaohs, and was the largest and most significant religious center in ancient Egypt.
Luxor Temple was the main venue for one of the most important ancient Egyptian religious celebrations, the Opet Festival, where the cult images of Amun, his wife Mut, and their son, the lunar god Khonsu, were taken from their temples in Karnak and transported in a grand procession to Luxor Temple.
The temple is not laid out on an east-west axis, but is oriented towards Karnak Temple, which is about three kilometers north of Luxor Temple. The two temples were once linked with a processional way bordered by sphinxes.
The oldest existing structure, a shrine, dates to the reign of Hatshepsut (c. 1503–1482 BC).

The Egyptian pyramids are some of the most fascinating and enduring monuments ever built. There are over 100 pyramids identified in Egypt, but the most famous are the Pyramids of Giza, located on the Giza Plateau on the outskirts of Cairo.
The three largest pyramids at Giza were built as tombs for the pharaohs Khufu (Cheops), Khafre (Chephren), and Menkaure (Mykerinus) during the 4th dynasty of the Old Kingdom (2613–2494 BC). The Great Pyramid of Giza, built for Khufu, is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one that remains largely intact. It is estimated to have taken 27 years and over 2 million workers to build. The pyramids are massive structures, with the Great Pyramid originally standing at 481 feet tall and weighing an estimated 7 million tons.

The ancient Egyptians had a vast and complex pantheon of gods and goddesses, numbering over 2,000! These deities played a central role in their daily lives, representing the natural world and its phenomena, along with human concepts and emotions.
The Ennead: This important group of nine deities represented a divine family, believed to be the creators of the world. Some of the most prominent members include:
Atum: The self-created primeval god, often depicted as a man or a ram.
Ra (Re): The sun god, associated with light, warmth, and life. Often depicted as a falcon-headed man with a solar disk around his head.
Osiris: The god of the underworld, agriculture, fertility, and rebirth.
Isis: The goddess of magic, protection, motherhood, and healing. Wife and sister of Osiris.
Horus: The falcon-headed god of kingship and the sky, son of Isis and Osiris.
Diverse Roles: Egyptian gods and goddesses had a wide range of functions. Some, like Hathor, the goddess of love, beauty, and music, were associated with joy and pleasure. Others, like Anubis, the jackal-headed god of the afterlife, presided over death and the underworld.

Shifting Importance: The importance of certain deities varied throughout Egyptian history. For instance, Ra was prominent in the Old Kingdom, while Amun, the king of the gods, rose to prominence in the New Kingdom.

Obelisks are tall, pointed monuments that were erected by the ancient Egyptians. They were typically made of granite and decorated with hieroglyphs. Obelisks were used for a variety of purposes, including commemorating pharaohs, honoring gods, and marking the entrance to temples.
The word "obelisk" is of Greek origin, and it means "pointed object." The ancient Egyptians themselves called these monuments tekhenu, which means "rays of the sun." This is because obelisks were often seen as symbols of the sun god Ra.

There are many obelisks still standing in Egypt today, but many more have been transported to other parts of the world.
The largest obelisk ever built is the unfinished obelisk at Aswan. This obelisk was never erected, but it would have been nearly 140 feet (42 meters) tall if it had been completed.
