Jones & Sons is a classic British café, bar and restaurant open all day with a good choice of carefully sourced and prepared food



Housed in an old Victorian textile factory in Dalston now home to Cell Studios, Jones & Sons is the latest addition to the local landscape and aims to offer a haven for the more discerning Dalston diner. Open from 9am for breakfast with dinner served through to 10/1

1pm, it’s a space to meet, eat, relax and also have the odd drink, where the speciality is quality, well-made British food, be that a sit down meal or a lunch grabbed from the deli counter at the bar. Coffee comes from Monmouth and is served by baristas trained by coffee maven Tim Williams (from a vintage Faema machine that has to be seen for its beauty to be truly appreciated). All meat comes from local Well Street Butchers and is cooked to perfection on the imposing char-grill, centrepiece of the open kitchen. Steaks are thick, veggies are well catered for and the bar snacks are classic. All ales, bar the black stuff, are London brewed and include Meantime, uber-local Beavertown Brews from Duke’s Brew & Que and The Kernel. Whilst the owners have handpicked the wine menu, adding to the personal touches you’ll find throughout. Jones & Sons –
A potted history

A blank canvas when they took over the keys, the brains behind Jones & Sons locked horns to push interior directions around the table. Remaining sympathetic to the buildings industrial heritage, but plucking influences from post war Danish design, commercial maritime salvage, and even classic Italian deli counter to take the form of a 12 foot high white and stainless steel pitched roofed kitchen that dominates the space; a cooking lodge housed within the white brick walls. The oak clad bar supports 5.2 metres of Cararra marble top and perfectly compliments the hand sourced mid-century Scandinavian style seating, whilst a leather banquette runs the length of the entire right hand wall. The attention to detail is everywhere with lights having been sourced from a marine salvage specialist in Exeter, a hand poured concrete / resin mix floor and a chef’s table for those wanting to get close to the action – the upshot being a very personal reflection of the vision of the people behind the place and the 200 artists and designers working inside the rest of the building

With space for 50 covers and offering a full table service, Jones & Sons is a break from the clamour of the vibrant late-night Kingsland Road institutions. Jones & Sons is open daily from 9am-3pm for breakfast, brunch, lunch and takeaways from the deli. Drinks, snacks and chat are available all day. Andy Jones is the Managing Director of the restaurant and co-owner with business partners Priestley and Muritu, founders and directors of Cell Project Space and Studios, who are responsible for setting up and running artists’ studios in the same building and others in Arcola Street, and across east London since 2001, as a funding stream for their exhibitions programme at their Bethnal Green based Project Space. What a week it has been for our catering division. While the sun has been out, the team have been super busy cooking up a storm! With over 800 people served a per day across various productions 😮‍💨

Sunday roasts have always been our thing! We keep it tasty and most importantly traditional. The potatoes are crisp, the meats are tender and don’t forgot our big ol yorkies. When it comes to gravy, the limit truly does not exist. Vegan and Vegetarian wellingtons are also available. Every Sunday our doors open for service from 12pm! This month, to try and drag people off the sofa and get you all off Deliveroo, we are doing 25% off food on our dinner menu all month.

Bottomless Brunch will be boozy brunch for the price of non boozy and Sunday lunch will also be 25% off your food bill.

We open for breakfast at 10am and our Prosecco brunch from tomorrow morning at 11am.

And just like that …. Our official last day in Dalston.

13 years, so many memories, love, joy and ultimately pride that I know what we’ve had here for so long has meant so much to many people. The memories of my kids growing up here will stay with me forever, as will some of the days and the nights and the lunches and the weddings and the movies shot here that elevated us to levels I thought were impossible.

Closing this site will now be etched in my mind forever as a cautionary tale of trust and business ethics from those who take your hard earned money every quarter and still try and squeeze every last drop out of you until there is nothing left but distain for those you once thought were friends.

The long and winding road for me in Hackney ends today after being here for 20 years. From GM at the Cat & Mutton to then going it alone on Arcola Street all those years ago.

The business continues to grow, TV & Film Catering is our main thing and has been for a few years, my South Woodford restaurant and the cafes that I have in and all now have my heart as well as my head.

After 13 beautiful years I’ve decided not to renew our lease in Dalston for 2026.

From humble beginnings on Arcola Street back in 2013 with very little money but a whole lot of desire the business has grown far greater than I could’ve ever imagined back when I was 32.

The business has moved massively into TV and film catering over the past five years and that is the direction in which we will now go with the gusto that I opened with all those years ago.

Our restaurant in South Woodford will remain open as well as our cafés inside 3 Mills film Studios and Eastbrook film Studios but sadly Jones & Sons Dalston will be no more.

Whilst Dalston has been off flagship site for so many years it hasn’t come without his challenges.
You would never find a sane restaurant owner who opens a 160 seat restaurant in a place you can’t find in a square that, faces some challenges, shall we say……

People used to joke that it was easier to find our restaurant on Netflix than it was in real life

We will be open through until December the 21st. A few dates for you to look out for.

The last Sunday Lunch will be December the 14th as we have a wedding on December 21st and our last bottomless brunch will be December 20th.

We will be opening for a few Select dinner services in December as well so please keep your eyes peeled.

Father’s Day, the lesser celebrated of the two but in my eyes just as important.

I left home at 16 so didn’t celebrate them enough with my dad. And since my kids have been born I think I’ve worked every single Father’s Day we’ve done this past 12 years.
This year we’ll all be together for the first time in a Father’s Day. Pretty cool.

We are so exited to have taking over as Executive Head Chef of the restaurant arm of Jones & Sons.

Gavin is an amazingly well travelled chef who trained under at Fifteen and then from there working in Milan at Michelin starred restaurant Novecento.

From being Head Chef in the Isle of White, Central London, 5 star hotels and working under Gordon Ramsay at The Narrow & Bread Street Kitchen, Gavin now finds himself back in East London where it all started.

His first menu drops in our South Woodford restaurant tonight and will be implemented in Dalston very soon.

There are Wedding tastings and then there are Wedding tastings….this one in .and.sons in South Woodford last night was the latter.
93 things this might just be the best wedding tastings in our 12 years of doing what we do.

I’ll be posting more about the Beef Welly, it was fu***ng delicious, plated so beautifully as well.

Finally, after careful consideration and lots of trial shifts Jones & Sons in Dalston has a new Head Chef.

Jake, on the left, has worked for us on and off over the past four years and I finally nailed him down to a full time role to run the kitchen in Dalston.

Jake, Dean and Sam all grew up together in Eastbourne and have always remained in touch and worked together when they could. Now I get to bring them all together for one last shot at the big time in Hackney.

You may or may not know that we have only been open for weekends in 2025 whilst we were dealing with a few, uh hum, staffing issues but all that now changes.

Spring is Springing, the stars are aligning and the old timer of Dalston will be back open for our Dinner menu from this Friday.

Not only that but as Jake is only our 2nd ever permanent Head Chef in 12 years we want to give him the same opportunity Kieran had by rolling back to our opening prices from 2013 for Friday night, Saturday Night and Sunday Lunch !!

THE END OF AN ERA

I put this on stories a few weeks ago but here goes again, on the grid.

After nearly 12 years as our Head Chef, is moving on to pastures new.

Kieran joined us in August 2013 when we had only been open for a few weeks. I’d fired the original head chef after a week and as a business we were STRUGGLING.

A CV popped up with the surname Hope……couldn’t have summed it up more at the time.

He cooked Sea Bass with Alliums for his trial and I was hooked.

The next 12 years would through up enormous challenges, pandemics, both of us having kids, getting married, growing the business and all that time Kieran had been there being as dependable as ever, which in Chef world is very rare.

Next weekend will be his last at Jones & Sons and I’m pulling myself out of retirement to work all weekend with him.

Valentines on Friday the 14th, Saturday Brunch and of Course Sunday Lunch on the 16th.

Kieran in the kitchen and me on the pass, that’s how it started and that’s how it’s going to end. We both look a bit different but the fire still burns.

I’m looking forward to it xx

Are you ready for the biggest revamp to our Brunch in the past 11 Years?

We turn 12 this year and we started doing Bottomless back in 2013, it’s been quite the journey.

Back when I was young enough and thin enough to get away with working on the floor a got so smashed during a brunch shift a took my top off and started dancing whilst free pouring drinks down peoples throats…

I think I was stressed and hit the Tequila early in the afternoon. But like me the business has matured over the years so from tomorrow you can choose from a great selection of brunch cocktails in Dalston as well as bottomless food.

Of course we’ll still be serving Prosecco but let’s try and make it a classy affair. No Garage brunch, drag brunch, 90’s party brunch, sip and paint (I don’t know what that’s)… just good old fashioned brunch brunch, with some tasty cocktails and your mates.

I know it’s January, I know you’re trying to be good but guess what?? It’s not going to last, it never does…..

We nabbed out of Hackney catering college when he was only 17, he worked in Dalston and quickly became a huge part of the kitchen team.

I remember vividly the first day he came to work, full of beans, super cocky little teenager and I honestly fell in love with that immediately.

Then he did his first bottomless brunch shift and let me tell you, that cockiness left him quicker than say ‘another bottle of Prosecco’ ……

Being a native of South Woodford it was an easy transition for him to move to the Jones & Sons site and when finishes school he rushes to South Woodford to help him with whatever prep he is allowed to do.

It’s crazy when your kids are MUCH closer in age to the staff than I am.
