Help through the letterbox This year, an unprecedented number of people have reached out in person and online to offer their ti

Inspired by Self Care Week, we want to know what positive changes you have made to your life and the lives of others since March:
Have you taken up an old hobby or learnt a new skill? What would you recommend to people with similar interests – a virtual visit, podcast, recipe, online class? Have you volunteered for the first time or returned to work from retirement? Does your organisation offer ne

w services such as food distribution or befriending? Were you, or your children, involved in making scrubs, visors, homemade soaps and masks? Do you have an idea for a community initiative and need an extra pair of hands? Is your child’s school raising funds or donating toys for Christmas? Perhaps you have relished the time to do less and take stock of what is important to you. If someone is feeling overwhelmed, can you suggest distraction or relaxation techniques you find helpful? Linked to this we would also love to hear your memories of this extraordinary time in general: adjustments to your routine, work and social life, appreciation given or received, and the stories that made you smile, e.g. the goats taking over Llandudno, driveway cinema nights, a sofa sing-along.

** New Online Book Club - Shared Reading with The Reader **

We have teamed up with charity 'The Reader' to start a new online book club! Join one (or all!) of our taster sessions on Zoom to see what you think.

All sessions running 2-3pm

Shared Reading is a different way to enjoy great literature and to meet people. Instead of individual reading books at home, we all read the same short story/book together from our screens, pausing at intervals to discuss what we’ve read. With over 35 groups running in Barnet and over 500 around the country, it is hugely popular! We will start with short stories and poems, and then maybe choose novels to read together. Each Shared Reading Group is 'stand alone' so you can come whenever you are able to do so.

There will be 3 taster sessions this year, and we then hope to meet regularly in 2021 - perhaps even weekly! And hopefully in person before too long.

Shared Reading is open to everyone - you don't need to bring anything with you (except maybe a cup of tea!). They are open to everyone, whether you love books or if you are not usually a great reader, so you’re welcome to invite your friends, family and neighbours.

Email [email protected] or comment below to get details for joining.

Hi everyone and welcome to our page.

Lots of examples to share in the About section. I've also listed some of mine which might jog a few memories of your own :)

The surreal experience of being the only person on a normally packed bus
Passing a florist and receiving a free bouquet the day they closed
Drive-thru queues making headline news when they reopened
Enjoying the Coronation Street specials in lieu of episodes
The chaos of getting everyone seated at once for UK-wide family quizzes
Photographing symbols of gratitude and support: children’s posters, signs over motorways, shop front rainbows
