When clients hear “expedition cruise”, do they immediately picture Antarctica, icebergs and a very warm coat?

Expedition cruising can also mean tropical wildlife, remote islands, fascinating cultures and exploring some of the world’s least-visited coastlines from sea level.

Here are four assumptions that warm-water expeditions can challenge:

🌎 **“Expedition cruising is only about the polar regions.”**
The expedition map also includes the Galápagos, Indonesia, Polynesia and many other extraordinary warm-water destinations.

🥾 **“It is only for extremely adventurous travellers.”**
Curiosity matters far more than physical endurance. Many itineraries offer different activity levels and ways to experience each destination.

🏝️ **“My favourite warm-weather destinations are best explored on land.”**
Many clients simply do not realise that places they already know and love can be experienced from sea level—revealing a completely different perspective.

🚤 **“Travelling by sea means seeing less.”**
Small expedition ships can reach hidden bays, remote islands, coastal communities and wildlife-rich areas that may be difficult—or impossible—to access from land.

During Day 1 of the ECN Conference, National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions, Silversea, Scenic and Swan Hellenic will help us look beyond the familiar polar narrative in **Selling the World’s Most Exciting Warm-Water Expeditions**.

Through a series of focused presentations, they will introduce some of the remarkable destinations, experiences and client opportunities within this exciting part of expedition cruising.

Which of these assumptions do you encounter most often?
