Jet2 Airbus A321ceo G-HLYB operating the morning flight to Split, Croatia on 15/08/26.

What an amazing sound from those CFM International CFM56 engines!

Originally delivered to Thomas Cook Airlines in April 2014 as G-TCDE, this A321 has since found a new home with Jet2 and continues to rack up the flying hours.

A great aircraft to catch on departure, especially with those CFM56s winding up! ✈️

Caledonian Airways Boeing 757-236 G-BUDX in Ambassador Airways colours.

Inter European Airways Boeing 757-235 G-IEAD in Air Aruba colours.

Kiwi International Airlines Boeing 757-236 G-OOOU, leased from Air 2000.

With aircraft regularly being leased between airlines, it wasn’t unusual to see a 757 operating in a livery that wasn’t its usual airline colours. For an aviation enthusiast, that made spotting all the more interesting.

TUI Airways Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner G-TUIO, afternoon departure from Manchester Airport, taking off from Runway 23L with another load of passengers heading off to the sunshine.

Powered by two General Electric GEnx-1B engines, this 787-9 was delivered to TUI Airways in November 2019 and continues to be a regular sight at Manchester.

Air 2000 was launched by the Owners Abroad Group in 1987, with Errol Cossey as its first chief executive. Starting with two Boeing 757s from Manchester, the airline quickly expanded during the 1990s, adding bases including Birmingham and Dublin.

In 1998, First Choice acquired Unijet and its airline, Leisure International Airways, which was absorbed into Air 2000.

In 2003, Air 2000 was rebranded First Choice Airways. In September 2007, First Choice merged with TUI to create TUI Travel. The following year, First Choice Airways merged with Thomsonfly to create Thomson Airways, ultimately becoming TUI Airways.

United Airlines Boeing 767-3CBER N685UA departing London Heathrow for its return transatlantic crossing.

Powered by Pratt & Whitney PW4056 engines, this Boeing 767 was originally delivered to Hawaiian Airlines in December 2002 as N590HA. After being placed into storage by Hawaiian Airlines in September 2018, the aircraft joined United Airlines in May 2019.

Now wearing United’s colours, N685UA continues to be a familiar sight at London Heathrow and across the Atlantic, more than two decades after its original delivery.
