First established as a working boatyard with an engineering workshop and a few swinging moorings in the 1970’s, Ardfern Yacht Centre has been developed slowly over the years around an old pier. Originally used by puffers such as the ‘Brenda’ (see photo) for taking cattle and freight to and from the local Isles and isolated coastal villages on the West Coast, the Yacht Centre still uses that same p

ier today as a key link to the modern pontoon network. The early 1980’s saw investment made in the large boat shed, a slip and boat hoist, while the marina office and chandlery together with Walcon pontoons were all in place by the mid 1980’s. Since that time the workshop, hoist, winter storage area, offices, chandlery and pontoons have all been constantly improved and extended to provide the excellent facilities available at Ardfern Yacht Centre today.

Customers are enjoying visiting Ardfern Village Stores in its new location opposite the Galley of Lorne. In the new building customers can sit and enjoy breakfast or lunch along with coffee and a cake before stocking up on essentials from the well stocked shelves.

First visit of the season will be this Friday, 1st May, from 5pm to 7.30pm. Booking is essential and we would recommend booking a slot as soon as possible as they do get booked out quite quickly!

The weather forecast is looking good for this Thursday when the Raymarine Roadshow will be at Ardfern Yacht Centre for the annual open day event. Raymarine experts will be on hand to discuss anything to do with your navigation equipment needs and you can experience the full range of chartplotters, radars, thermal cameras and instruments first-hand.
Also here on the day will be the leading marine supplier Barrus, showcasing their wide range of marine products, including the new Mercury electric outboard.
No pop up coffee stop on-site this year as the Ardfern Village Store & Cafe has now opened in their new premises and we are keen to support them in their new venture - the cafe will be open all day for breakfast, lunch and stacks as well as teas and coffees.
