Lingfield Neighbourhood Plan

Lingfield Neighbourhood Plan The Lingfield Neighbourhood Plan is a community-led framework for guiding the future development, regeneration and conservation of the Lingfield area.

So what is a Neighbourhood Plan? First and foremost, it is a community-led framework for guiding the future development, regeneration and conservation of an area. This is a completely new planning tier introduced by the Locality Bill in 2011. Neighbourhood plans can influence many things including where new developments are built, what they look like, local employment, transport, environmental pro

tection and heritage. They have proved incredibly popular because for the first time in history local people have been given the right to influence the outcome of planning decisions.

This is the second public meeting to discuss how you can respond to the allocation of the 'Star fields' for development by Tandridge District Council.

JOINT STATEMENT FROM LINGFIELD PARISH COUNCIL AND THE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN STEERING GROUP –

re: Tandridge District Council (TDC) Local Plan Consultation- Site allocation for development in Conservation Area and Green Belt fields behind The Star public house, Church Road and bordering Town Hill and Station Road.

Lingfield Parish Council and the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group are opposed to development in the fields behind The Star public house (as set out in TDC’s Local Plan).

Following a public meeting at St Peter & St Paul Church held on July 26th, and attended by some 200 people, we believe we are representing the views of the majority of residents in this respect.

We are currently seeking further legal clarification on Tandridge District Council’s failure to consult on this site.

We want as many people as possible to write in but this has to be done in quite a particular way. The comments need to be focused on specific policies in the draft plan and focus on two matters - these are the soundness and legal compliance of the plan.

We have formulated some guidelines on how to frame responses should you wish to object to this proposal which can be found here http://www.lingfield.info/downloads.php

WE WILL BE HOLDING A SECOND PUBLIC MEETING ON WEDNESDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER IN ST PETER AND ST PAUL’S CHURCH, STARTING AT 7.30PM to issue guidance notes on how to respond to this consultation in an appropriate manner. This information is also available on the Neighbourhood Plan and Parish Council websites.

Public Meeting
Thursday 26 July at 7.30pm
Lingfield Church Old Town, Lingfield, RH7 6AH

The fields between The Star and Lingfield Station have been allocated for removal from the Green Belt for housing in the Tandridge Local Plan.
 This site was originally ruled out as “unsuitable”
 The decision to allocate the fields for housing was taken without any consultation with Lingfield residents, the Parish Council or the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group
 The justification for the allocation is flawed
 Building on this site would completely change the character of the village
 This site is part in the Conservation Area, it is important to the setting of The Old Town, the Grade I & II Listed buildings

Lingfield Parish Council invites you to a briefing on these key points and explain how you can respond to the Public Consultation on the Tandridge Local Plan.
