Airfield open all year round and seven days a week. Cafe 12 is situated on the ground floor of the control tower, serving gown cooked food Wednesday through to Sunday 10am - 4pm. Museum upstairs is dedicated to Bomber Command 12 and those who served at Wickenby during WW2.

Missions are now complete.
A great day of flour bombing, with some mighty effort by the crews.

Whilst ordnance came close to the designated aiming point (a paddling pool😆), the Wickenby dam remains intact.

Closest to the target were the crew of GCEKK, with one flour bomb landing in line with the aiming point but 6m off to the left. Well done , great effort. Please make contact with the airfield to claim your prize of a "bouncing bomb of beer" (Not to scale!)🍺

Many thanks to all that took part, it was great fun to see. We hope you all enjoyed it. It's certainly harder than it looks. 😁

Weather over target is expected to be good, with a light Westerly breeze and good visibility.

Aircrew preparing for On OPS Flour Bombing Missions, May 16th, please note:

Aircraft selected require a minimum crew of two; Pilot and Air Bomber.
Pilot to fly the sortie, and Air Bomber to open bomb bay and drop ordnance.

Crews should PPR in the normal way and ideally, look to arrive on base by Midday.
Operational briefings to commence at 1230, with the first missions getting underway at 1300.

Mission take off times will be allocated on the day.

MET briefing to follow in the coming days.
