If you’re looking for a fun, affordable group getaway by the coast, this one is a great find.

Set in a historic building just moments from Torquay Harbour, this bright and colourful duplex is perfect for families, friends or even a weekend away with a group.

💫 Highlights:
🎬 Cinema-style lounge — perfect for movie nights
🏡 Sleeps up to 8 (great for groups!)
🚿 Every bedroom has its own en-suite
🌈 Bold, colourful interiors with high ceilings
☕ Private patio for morning coffee or evening drinks
📍 Right by the marina, shops and restaurants
💻 Fast WiFi + workspace (great for longer stays too)

✨ Good to know:
🚗 Parking is paid nearby
💧 You may need to turn the hot water on when you arrive
🔊 Cinema setup is fun, but you might want to bring a speaker (owners mentioned they’re upgrading this)

💰 We paid around £130 a night for 8 people — which is amazing value for the location!

It’s one of those places where you can spend the day by the sea, then come back, put a film on and all chill together.

Perfect for weekends away, celebrations or a seaside escape with friends.

Seafront Stay – Port Blanc, Brittany 🇫🇷

If you’re road-tripping around Brittany, this little seaside house is such a good find — and it’s right on the water.

We stayed around Penvenan / Port Blanc and it was one of those places where the days just slow down in the best way.

🌊🐚🩱
Slow mornings, sandy toes, paddle boards, sea swims, treasure hunts along the beach, dancing in the sea breeze… and lots of coffee and good food.

💫 Why this one’s special:
🌊 Direct access to the sea right from the house
🥾 The famous GR34 coastal path runs past the door
🏖 Beautiful Brittany beaches nearby
☕ Sea views from the living room
🔥 Cosy living area with pellet stove
🚶‍♀️ Walk to sailing, kayaking and coastal adventures

You can literally step outside and be swimming, walking the coast or watching sunsets over the bay.

And the best bit… I found this one for under £100 a night, which is pretty amazing for a seafront stay.

✨ A Quirky Cornish Hideaway ✨

If you like your stays a little different, this one is such a fun find.

Tucked away at the bottom of a peaceful garden in the Cornish countryside, the Hideaway is a hand-crafted underground hut built using reclaimed and recycled materials. It feels a bit like stepping into a hobbit-style retreat.

You actually have to crouch through a tiny door and head down handmade tree-trunk steps to get inside… which makes it all part of the adventure.

Inside you’ll find a cosy little space with a king bed surrounded by fairy lights, a cast iron log burner, and lots of quirky vintage touches and stained glass windows.

💫 Why it’s such a unique stay:
🌿 Hand-built underground hideaway
🔥 Cosy log burner for chilly evenings
✨ Fairy lights and stained glass details
🐎 Peaceful countryside setting with horses grazing nearby
🌊 Only about 5 minutes from St Ives and the beaches
🚶‍♀️ Woodland and coastal walks right on the doorstep

It’s definitely rustic and a bit adventurous, but that’s part of the charm — perfect if you like unusual places rather than standard hotels.

The Little Cabin – Cornwall

Not every stay has to be luxury — sometimes the simple, cosy ones with the kids are the best.

We stayed in this little countryside cabin and it was such a sweet, relaxed base for exploring Cornwall. Nothing fancy, just peaceful farmland views, a cosy woodburner and space to slow down together.

It sits right by a public footpath too, so you can head straight out for countryside walks from the doorstep.

💫 Why we liked it:
🌾 Lovely farmland views with distant sea glimpses
🔥 Cosy woodburner for chilly evenings
🚶‍♀️ Country walks right from the door
🌊 Only about 15 minutes from Falmouth and the beautiful south coast
🏡 Small private garden with seating
👨‍👩‍👧 Perfect for a couple or a young family getaway

The kitchen is compact and simple, but it had everything we needed for a short stay — and it felt really peaceful being out in the countryside.

These are the kind of affordable, easy little escapes I love finding.

Villa Petäjä – Finland

I stayed here in January for my 40th birthday, and it was absolutely magical — thick snow everywhere, total peace and that incredible crisp winter air.

Set high on the slopes of Pikku-Syöte and surrounded by tall, ancient pine forests, this stunning log cabin is all about peace, nature and that magical winter feeling.

The name Petäjä is an old Finnish word for pine, and the cabin is built from solid pine logs — perfectly blending into the beautiful forest around it. It feels calm, private and completely connected to nature.

🏔️ Breathtaking panoramic views across the snowy landscape
🔥 Cosy log cabin with fireplace and warm Scandinavian interiors

With large windows throughout — even in the sauna — you’re surrounded by the incredible scenery at all times. Perfect for adventure-filled days and slow, cosy evenings by the fire.

Cosy Bell Tent Escape with Hot Tub ✨

We stayed here back in September 2022 and it’s such a lovely little nature getaway.

These beautiful cream bell tents are made from high-quality cotton canvas, with plenty of windows (with mosquito nets) to let the fresh air in while keeping things comfortable.

Inside you’ll find:
🛏 Double bed with fresh bedding
🪞 Mirror, rug & cosy touches
🔥 Electric fire — perfect for cooler evenings
♨️ Private hot tub for relaxing under the stars

There’s also a communal outdoor kitchen and BBQ area, making it great for a chilled, back-to-nature stay. We had this all to ourselves!
