Having spent time working with the Army as an HGV trainer, Paul Guyan was ready for a new challenge, one that would change lives for the better by improving work opportunities and would build on his discipline, leadership, and operational experience while making a meaningful impact on his local community. That ambition became Direct Hgv & Coach Driver Training ,a business built on Paul’s clear values and his commitment to helping drivers across Scotland build successful, long term careers in the transport and logistics sector.
Based in Mitchelston, Kirkcaldy, at the heart of the business is a focus on delivering high quality, professional training that sets the benchmark for safety, skill, and confidence on the road. “For me, it’s simple,” Paul explained, “We train drivers to be safer, more confident, and more capable, with superb pass rates. We’re strengthening the entire industry at the same time as improving the life opportunities for all our trainees”
Direct HGV Driver Training offers Class 2 and Class 1 driver training, Category D coach training, CPC courses, and refresher programmes. The business has expanded rapidly since launching in April 2024, now operating satellite yards in Kinross, Falkirk, Perth and Bishopbriggs. This growth allows HGV tests to be carried out across much of central and northern Scotland, improving accessibility for trainees.
Paul now works with six self employed instructors and has recently appointed his first employee, an administrator, to support increasing demand.
