As the year draws to a close and we draw a breath and contemplate what we have achieved over the past year very little of which would have been achieved without the amazing support of our team of volunteer drivers and reception team. Our membership numbers have increased significantly over the year so much so at one point we had to temporarily close membership subscriptions whilst we recruited more drivers to cope with the increased demands. We have provided minibus transport for children to get to and from school no matter what the weather and no matter what road closures appeared along the route. Finally we have delivered 8 trips out in the minibus every month to a wide variety of venues building a real sense of community and dispelling much of the feelings of loneliness and isolation so many people endure. It has been so heart warming to get feedback and passenger feedback after the trips and what it has meant to those who travelled with us. We even have a trips only membership category for those who do not qualify for ring and ride or community bus, membership so everyone who wants to can enjoy these benefits too.

The offices will close at 12 noon on Tuesday 24th December and will reopen on Thursday January 2nd 2025 at 9am when we look forward to serving our customers once more. We have a wonderful programme of events for our members to enjoy in January and February so why not take a look and see if there is something that interests you

We were delighted to transport 92 year old Edith (left) to her first post-lockdown hair appointment at Janet’s hairdressers. Edith had an eventful childhood: born in Austria in 1928 she came to the UK unaccompanied, aged 11 as part of the Kindertransport to escape the N***s. She was subsequently adopted and brought up by a couple in Shropshire, before moving to the Ledbury area in 1954. Talking about her experience of lockdown Edith said: “I was very lucky, I was looked after really well by my three children and two wonderful carers”. On the right, behind the mask, is Ring & Ride volunteer driver, Sue Millington-Jones.

We have a new Weelchair Vehicle! Thanks to the generosity of Friends of Ledbury Healthcare and the Rowlands Trust we have been able to buy a new Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle. The new vehicle, a converted Fiat Doblo, is much quieter and easier to drive than our old Peugeot. It also has a winch for easier loading
The Doblo had it's maiden journey with Caroline Belcher, A resident of Birchams Grange and driver volunteer driver Steve Blackaby.
