The Launceston Steam Railway - a two and a half mile steam railway running through the glorious Kensey Valley, linking the historic Cornish town of Launceston to the hamlet of Newmills. Good morning, happy Sunday and "on yer bike". This is Nigel on his bike off to open the gates, I took this photo a couple of weeks ago but it is his mode of transport first thing. This week we start our September timetable and will now be open Sunday-Wednesday. Gates open 10.30, trains run 11, 12, 1, 2.30 and 4. Cafe, museum, gift and bookshop all on site.

Good morning, happy Sunday and the start of our working week. Throughout August we are open Sunday - Thursday. Cafe, museum, gift and bookshop all on site. Gates open 10.30 and the first train is 11. Thanks to Irvine for the 2 photos taken last week.

Good morning, just had message from Kay to say Dotty the diva is coming out today. Cafe, museum, gift and book shop on site. Tickets once purchased are valid all day. Film I took couple of weeks ago of Dorothea coming out of her shed before we opened, ready for the day.

Evening all, I now have an update on the earlier update. Nigel and Kay have DECIDED NOT TO OPEN Thursday 13th and Sunday 16th. We will keep a close eye on the weather and keep you posted here.

Evening all. Important notice. Due to the extreme temps today we have decided that we will not be open tomorrow Thursday 13th August. Everywhere is so tinder dry that we cannot risk bankside fires. We hope to be able to open again on Sunday but will keep you up to date on here.

Good morning, happy Monday. Forecast this week is for hot again. Nigel has put our second toast rack carriage back on again to allow for a breeze. Dotty has said she will not be out this week in this heat. We have cafe, museum, gift and bookshop on site. At Newmills there is a short riverside walk in the shade with a couple of picnic benches beside the river.

Good morning, happy Sunday and the start of our working week. We are now open Sunday - Thursday throughout August. Gates open at 10.30 with first train at 11. We have cafe, museum, gift and bookshop on site. Film clip I took last Sunday of Lilian shunting the toastrack carriage out of the way before we were open. I was standing in our holiday cottage garden to take this.
