Mystery solved! 🕵️‍♀️🧰 Norton wasn't testing footwear for weather that doesn't exist — he was busy sanding down the companionway and giving it a proper marine-grade finish.

Turns out 'Fleet Manager' occasionally translates to 'man with a sander and a very forgiving pair of boots'. And, judging by the state of those boots, he gave it 110%.

Good effort, Norton. Now only 7 more coats to go! 👏👍🧑‍🎨

The first taste of the true South. 🧊

We were taking a moment to stretch our legs on the rugged, volcanic rock of Nelson Island in the South Shetlands during our March expedition aboard Mustamaija.

When you sail these high latitudes, this is the sheer scale of the wilderness that welcomes you before you even reach the deep ice of the Antarctic Peninsula. The Drake Passage was behind us, the glaciers were towering in the distance, and the real adventure was just beginning.

You don't need to be a seasoned sailor to experience the stunning coastlines of Scotland and Ireland from the best possible vantage point—the water! Whether you want to learn the ropes or simply sit back, relax, and take in the spectacular scenery, this is the perfect seven-day getaway.

What to expect:
We will be island-hopping through the stunning Inner Hebrides, dropping anchor at beautiful secluded spots like Mull and Gigha. We will navigate the famous Sound of Jura and the breathtaking Gulf of Corryvreckan, with a highly recommended stop on Islay for a dram at the legendary Laphroaig distillery.

Depending on the weather and what the crew fancies, we can set a course across the sea to Northern Ireland. We can moor up in Ballycastle, giving you the chance to stretch your legs at the Giant’s Causeway or visit the Old Bushmills Distillery, before cruising back via the beautiful shores of Arran or Holy Island.

📣 We have one space available for this weekend's RYA sailing training, starting on Friday, 4th September, departing from Largs Yacht Haven. Due to cabin arrangements, this berth is ideally suited for a female crew member.

This weekend is suitable for beginners (Start Yachting), as well as those working towards Competent Crew, Day Skipper, or building general experience.

Price is £275pp and includes 2 nights onboard, all onboard meals, marina fees, fuel and gas. Excellent bus and train links to Largs Yacht Haven and free car parking available.
