A lot of our guests travel on Saturdays but the good news is you still see one of the ladies games on Sundays. Well worth seeing this uniquely Highland game.

While it's not a good mountain forecast this weekend, we are looking forward to more days like this. This is Bruich na Firthe, probably the easiest of the Munro Summits on the the main Skye Ridge. You can see some of the other summits sticking out of the cloud.
The walk in to this starts at Sligachan, less than 30 miles from Varis. Around 10% of the Munros are within approximately 30 minutes drive from Varis, or should I say the point at which you start walking is only around 30 minutes away.

A good spot for a outdoor swim is Aird Point, it's walkable from the house. There's a good chance you will get it yourself but I have seen other folk there, in one case with a pony who seemed to be enjoying the water. Note that the water is still a bit cold, around 7 C but getting warmer all the time, also don't swim out too far as there is a tidal flow at the point.

Great cafe. While it's more usual to drive there if you are starting from Varis Holiday House ,but we did walk there one day. We also got a lift back.

The Croft Cafe is situated in the heart of the charming crofting village of Duirinish, famous for its herd of highland cattle between Kyle of Lochalsh and Plockton.

Open all year, serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, this tasteful barn conversion with its up-cycled furnishings brings rustic and contemporary together perfectly to create a beautiful dining atmosphere.

Snow and cloud on the Five Sisters when we stopped in today. Not really weather for sitting outside but nice and warm inside.

Not a great forecast for the weekend but lovely this morning walking with Blaven above Lochalsh. As it forestry land there's no livestock, although there are then occasional deer.

Having breakfast this morning watching various ships going south through Kyle Rhea. This is the Norway registered Mikal With, I think it has something to do with the various fish farms around here.
