Some people think travel planning is all sunshine and cocktails, but last night looked a little different for me.

In the early hours of the morning I was on the phone and online, re-protecting clients whose flight home from their holiday this evening was cancelled due to yesterday’s air traffic control issues. While they were sleeping, I was working behind the scenes to get them rebooked, secure extra nights and make sure they were looked after.

Wow!! Not sure where August went but hello September!!

Thanks to everyone that kept me so busy through August... lots of fabulous trips booked as well as plenty of travel documents to be prepped and delivered meant that August absolutely flew!

So as we say goodbye to the peak of the summer and head into my favourite time of year, I just wanted to say thank you for all of your enquiries and bookings, it's very much appreciated.

I have had some lovely new referrals and so thank you to everyone who has recommended me to their friends, family, neighbours, colleagues and associates, my business is built on word of mouth and so sharing me with your nearest and dearest is the best way you can support me and my little business.

Just a little reminder that if you are looking online for a getaway, before you click book online with one of the big tour operators or online travel agents, PLEASE consider letting me look at what you have found as I should at least be able to match what you have found, potentially get a better price or better value included for you.

Finally it’s starting to cool down! I’ve had the fan going full speed in my office all week and still been roasting to death!

It makes the opportunities to get out of the office so much more appreciated 😁

Met some clients on Monday for a coffee at brew_it_kirkby who are heading off to Florida at the end of the month, it was lovely to catch up and chat about their trip, answer any last minute questions and deliver their travel documents.

It’s been another busy week with lots of new enquiries so if you’re waiting on a quote from me I’ll be in touch as soon as possible. I appreciate everyone who trusts me with their travel plans.

Booked some lovely trips this week too including Positano in Italy, Maldives, Amsterdam and Greece.

Also had some fabulous feedback from some recently returned clients. One was a European rail trip that I absolutely loved planning and finding fabulous places to stay, the other was a lady whose flights I book to Australia but this time was bringing her daughter from Australia to the UK for a special birthday celebration. I love that I get to be a part of my clients having an amazing time ❤️

It's been quite some time since I posted much on here, which is mostly down to the fact that my lovely clients have been keeping me super busy looking after their holiday bookings, for which I am very thankful.

I thought it was time to remind you all about who I am and what I do, just in case you didn't know or was unsure if I was still working in travel.

I have been in the travel industry since I was 17 years old, coming up now to 30 years in this magical and crazy industry. It's an industry that I love with all of my heart, the people I work with and alongside, the clients that I get to meet and who become friends not just customers and the suppliers that I work with to provide adventures and experiences for my clients.

Travel has given me many things, I met my husband, Andy, through travel when I called Cresta Holidays (all those years ago!) to get a quote for a trip... I ended up with a booking AND a husband! That's 21 years ago this year... how time flies when you're having fun!

I have explored many amazing places across the world and continue to be surprised and inspired by new destinations and products all of the time.

I love what I do, it's not a job, it's a passion and I get so much from sourcing the perfect trip for my clients.

I have worked in different sectors of the industry with several different companies as well. Spending 2 summers as a holiday representative for Kosmar Holidays in 2002 and 2003, I have worked for several agencies like Thomas Cook and First Choice before finally finding my forever home with Travel Counsellors.

Travel Counsellors gives me the opportunity to provide my clients with the holidays that they deserve, not only off the shelf packages (which there is nothing wrong with obviously) but tailormade, personalised trips for families, couples, groups, multi-generational parties and work trips amongst many, many more.

The advantage to working from home is that when your body says it’s time to get up at 4am it means I have some extra time to spend in the office!

Well, hello April!! March has literally flown by!!!

March is usually my favourite month of the year for many reasons, the days start to get a little longer, it usually starts to feel like winter is in the rearview and of course it's my birthday month.

This March has been mostly sponsored by coffee and late nights due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East affecting many peoples travel plans, whether they were due to stay in the Middle East or passing through from or to other destinations. It's been a month of rearrangements, cancellations and general upset for many.

Easter is always a busy time for travel and so it's been difficult but as an industry we always bounce back!

What has been evident though is the difference in the care received by those affected by this situation and the fact that many people that I have spoken to who have booked online have just found it impossible to get any kind of advice, help or solutions, often spending days or even weeks stranded in a place where their costs are mouting by the day.

These are the situations where having someone to look after you and your travel really make the difference. I had some clients who were due to fly home from Australia the week that the conflict began and after several days of working with the airline to find a solution I managed to get them home just 5 days after they should have returned home. I have had several clients who were due to travel to or via the Middle East in the last few weeks who have all received a refund or I have rebooked them onto alternative destinations.

I have clients who may still be affected by this conflict but I am monitoring these and keeping in touch to make sure that they are aware of their options.

The value in booking your travel arrangements with me goes beyond finding a suitable holiday, it's the after care and the security of knowing that no matter what you have someone that cares as much about your enjoyment of your trip as you do.

I don't just book expensive, luxury trips, I book everything from UK breaks, cruises, beach breaks, flights, rail trips, multi centre holidays, adventure travel, you name it I can book it. After a very stressful week trying to get some clients home from Australia who’s flights via Doha were cancelled earlier in the week, I got up at 2am to check that they’d had no issues checking in as online check in wasn’t available for me to do for them.

Opened my emails to find the below email….

So back to bed for me knowing that they are finally homeward bound 😁

As it's my birthday month I decided that I'd like to take the opportunity to do something for charity as a way of celebrating.

So I have decided that for every booking I make in March I will donate £10 to the amazing run by the wonderful .harbison on the Thai island of Koh Samui.

Niall and his amazing team work tirelessly to save and feed thousands of street dogs, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

If you love dogs and would like to pop them a follow I'm sure that they would be so grateful.
