It's been quite some time since I posted much on here, which is mostly down to the fact that my lovely clients have been keeping me super busy looking after their holiday bookings, for which I am very thankful.

I thought it was time to remind you all about who I am and what I do, just in case you didn't know or was unsure if I was still working in travel.

I have been in the travel industry since I was 17 years old, coming up now to 30 years in this magical and crazy industry. It's an industry that I love with all of my heart, the people I work with and alongside, the clients that I get to meet and who become friends not just customers and the suppliers that I work with to provide adventures and experiences for my clients.

Travel has given me many things, I met my husband, Andy, through travel when I called Cresta Holidays (all those years ago!) to get a quote for a trip... I ended up with a booking AND a husband! That's 21 years ago this year... how time flies when you're having fun!

I have explored many amazing places across the world and continue to be surprised and inspired by new destinations and products all of the time.

I love what I do, it's not a job, it's a passion and I get so much from sourcing the perfect trip for my clients.

I have worked in different sectors of the industry with several different companies as well. Spending 2 summers as a holiday representative for Kosmar Holidays in 2002 and 2003, I have worked for several agencies like Thomas Cook and First Choice before finally finding my forever home with Travel Counsellors.

Travel Counsellors gives me the opportunity to provide my clients with the holidays that they deserve, not only off the shelf packages (which there is nothing wrong with obviously) but tailormade, personalised trips for families, couples, groups, multi-generational parties and work trips amongst many, many more.

Well, hello April!! March has literally flown by!!!

March is usually my favourite month of the year for many reasons, the days start to get a little longer, it usually starts to feel like winter is in the rearview and of course it's my birthday month.

This March has been mostly sponsored by coffee and late nights due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East affecting many peoples travel plans, whether they were due to stay in the Middle East or passing through from or to other destinations. It's been a month of rearrangements, cancellations and general upset for many.

Easter is always a busy time for travel and so it's been difficult but as an industry we always bounce back!

What has been evident though is the difference in the care received by those affected by this situation and the fact that many people that I have spoken to who have booked online have just found it impossible to get any kind of advice, help or solutions, often spending days or even weeks stranded in a place where their costs are mouting by the day.

These are the situations where having someone to look after you and your travel really make the difference. I had some clients who were due to fly home from Australia the week that the conflict began and after several days of working with the airline to find a solution I managed to get them home just 5 days after they should have returned home. I have had several clients who were due to travel to or via the Middle East in the last few weeks who have all received a refund or I have rebooked them onto alternative destinations.

I have clients who may still be affected by this conflict but I am monitoring these and keeping in touch to make sure that they are aware of their options.

The value in booking your travel arrangements with me goes beyond finding a suitable holiday, it's the after care and the security of knowing that no matter what you have someone that cares as much about your enjoyment of your trip as you do.

I don't just book expensive, luxury trips, I book everything from UK breaks, cruises, beach breaks, flights, rail trips, multi centre holidays, adventure travel, you name it I can book it. If you find a holiday with one of the well known tour operators like TUI, Jet2, Easyjet, I can book these, with the added protection of having me look after everything. As it's my birthday month I decided that I'd like to take the opportunity to do something for charity as a way of celebrating.

So I have decided that for every booking I make in March I will donate £10 to the amazing run by the wonderful .harbison on the Thai island of Koh Samui.

Niall and his amazing team work tirelessly to save and feed thousands of street dogs, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

If you love dogs and would like to pop them a follow I'm sure that they would be so grateful.

Well March has certainly been eventful so far!!

I'd normally post a welcome March post about how much I love this month with it being my birthday month and the start of Spring, but March has started very differently as many of you will no doubt be aware.

I have spent the best part of the last week assisting clients who either have affected bookings who were due to travel imminently or rearranging flights for clients to get home from their travels avoiding the Middle East.

With clients in Australia trying to get home I have spent several nights this week working in the very early hours of the morning to keep in contact and update them as much as possible.

Booking a trip with me is not just about the initial booking, it's about the care and assistance that I provide in the event that something happens before or during your travels.

Yes, you might find something cheaper online, you might save £50 on what I quote you, you might think it's worth taking the risk.. what could possibly go wrong, you say?

Working in travel for 28 years I can tell you there is rarely a week goes by that there isn't some crisis or world event that affects my clients bookings. So what could possibly go wrong? Literally anything!

Happy Monday!! I hope that you had a great weekend :)

Today the view from my desk looks like this.... on the plus side, we are now over half way through February and edging closer and closer to lighter nights and the start of Spring 😁

It's a busy one today, Mondays often are when people have spent the weekend talking about holidays or have been looking over quotes that I have sent.

Currently working on some lovely trips including a trip to Japan for the Cherry Blossom in 2027, skiing for a family in Italy for 2027, a multi stop trip to Australia, two separate rail trips through Europe and some fly and flop holidays to the Mediterannean this summer...

Just wanted to say thanks for keeping me so busy, I love working on such varied trips.

My start date with Travel Counsellors was 14th February 2012, it never really registered that I started my love affair with being a Travel Counsellor on the day that many celebrate who or what they love.

They say do something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life… this is in the main true, believe me there are some days that feel like very hard work… but every day I get to wake up to a career that I chose and love with all of my heart.

So on this Valentine’s Day I wanted to say thank you for allowing me to do what I love and for supporting a local small business.

As we come to the end of 2025 I just wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to each and everyone of you that has booked, enquired, shared, supported and promoted my business. I get to do the job that I love because of you.

I am so lucky to have arranged over HALF A MILLION POUNDS worth of travel in 2025 which is huge for me and is my best ever year as a Travel Counsellor by a mile!!

I love the fact that after all of the festivities of Christmas and New Year we head into the busiest time of year for travel and I'm ready to get started and help you with your 2026 travels and beyond.
