River Humber Gas Pipeline Replacement Scheme
Building the world’s longest tunnelled pipeline river crossing in a quiet corner of Humberside was never going to be easy. The existing pipeline lies in the bed of the river and is at risk of being exposed by the strong tidal currents. National Grid’s long term solution involves building a segmental tunnel, 30m under the river and inserting a 4.92km pipeline inside. The presentation will detail the engineering and logistical challenges that are being overcome to deliver this vital project for the security of UK’s gas supplies.
