It is with great sadness, that I share the passing of our beloved Uncle Derek.
Not only an Uncle and someone I would class as a friend, Derek has been there from the very start of my career and throughout 15 years of the hgv profession- from giving me my first job when I had no clue what I wanted to do, going easy on me when I was costing him more than I was making in those early days (no gate post/ bumper corner/wall was safe around me and a lorry) , taking me to buy my very first lorry (of course it had to be a DAF!), into making sure I was all set for the plunge into self employed life.
None of what I have today would have been at all possible if it wasn't for this man giving me the opportunity and guidance, as well as sharing his wealth of knowledge - apart from constantly saying that Scanias are junk (maybe the v8 breaking down was his last practical joke)
Derek was definitely the go to man for literally anything in Loddiswell and surrounding areas, helping out anyone in need - nothing was ever too much trouble
I will be eternally grateful for all that he has done for me, and I will miss him immensely.
Rest easy π
