At West Country Movers, we understand that moving home is one of the biggest and often most stressful events people experience.
Over the years, we’ve seen first-hand how much pressure can build when removal arrangements are left until the final few weeks before moving day.
One of the biggest pieces of advice we can give our customers is to secure your removal quote and provisional moving date as early as possible.
Leaving it until the last 2–4 weeks can lead to limited availability, rushed decisions, and unnecessary stress at a time when there is already so much to organise.
By planning ahead early in the process, you give yourself the best chance of securing your preferred moving date and removal company, while also allowing enough time to properly prepare your belongings and organise your move without feeling overwhelmed or under pressure.
We also strongly recommend trying to leave at least a one-week or more gap between exchange and completion wherever possible.
This extra time can make a huge difference for everyone involved, allowing proper preparation, better coordination, and helping to avoid last-minute panic or unrealistic timescales.
Customers are often concerned when asked to pay a percentage deposit to secure a booking date, but we would like to reassure you that this is completely normal practice within the removals industry.
Deposits allow removal companies to reserve vehicles, staff, and time specifically for your move, and all bookings are supported by clear terms and conditions for our protection, your protection and peace of mind.
Communication is another key part of a successful move. Staying in regular contact with your removal company, estate agents, and solicitors helps ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible from start to finish, reducing the risk of delays, misunderstandings, or unexpected problems on moving day.
Our goal is not just to move your belongings — it’s to help protect our customers from unnecessary stress and ensure every move is handled as smoothly, professionally, and efficiently as possible.
The earlier you prepare, the easier your move will be.
