Always much anticipated, Royal Caribbean released their Summer 2028 European Season today... Part One! There's more to come. Here's what was unveiled today and what we think is coming...

𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐎𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐈𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐧:
It's same again in the UK as Freedom of the Seas is being deployed in the UK for a second year running, it will be the 4th year in a row for a Freedom Class ship in the UK with Indy & Liberty also in residence for a season each!

The Freedom Focus is on Northern Europe & Norwegian Fjords itineraries with a handful of Spanish & French sailings especially towards the end of the season. There are a couple of short sailings.

𝐑𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐓𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫:
We like this... Royal will leave a ship in the Mediterranean over Winter for the first time ! Rhapsody will undertake 9, 10, 11 & 12 night sailings taking in Canaries, Portugal, Greece, even Egypt over Winter 2028 / 2029!

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐥 𝐎𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬?
For us, the pick of the new release is Jewel of the Seas in Stockholm & Copenhagen. Brilliant itineraries but Jewel is here for a good time, not a long time as the ship will only be with us May to August 2028 - Check out the 11 Night port intensive Scandinavia sailings taking in Gdansk, Riga, Tallinn and overnights in Stockholm! Fantastic!

Odyssey sticks to it's tried and tested itineraries focusing on Santorini (the home of Royal's Only European Beach Club!) and Mykonos while the other ships cruise ever changing itineraries throughout the Summer...

𝐖𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐭... 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐈𝐈 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐎𝐧𝐞...
Now, this is speculation on our part BUT there's NO WAY that's it... and there's no way there won't be an Oasis Class or Icon Class ship in Europe in 2028! The only surprise is we're having to wait longer when some cruise lines have released into 2029!

Oasis VII and Icon V are both due for release in 2028... we're putting 2 and 2 together... we guess it will depend on their progress BUT something big will come in Part II... after all this is Royal Caribbean and big things are always coming...

This release is very much itinerary focused for us and there are some great itineraries so if Royal is your cruise line and you want something a little different there are some options here... if you want the very best ships then most roads lead to Royal Caribbean's home ... in the Caribbean and further afield!

For all of you who didn’t mark this in your diaries, don’t worry, we’re here to remind you… Royal Caribbean Europe 2028 goes on sale THIS WEEK!

So, although Royal’s own communications state ‘week commencing’ 12th October they typically release on Wednesday so we’re expecting everything to be released on Wednesday 14th October.

Furthermore it can tie into US time so it is possible that it will be more like 2pm before systems really kick in for bookings!

Now their schedule clearly says Europe Part 1…. What is included in part 1 and what is being held back will all become clear - last time around the announcement regarding Legend coming to Europe came after the original launch… !

All we know about 2028 is that Icon V and Oasis VII are currently due for release in 2028 so could we see a mini season on one of those ships announced at a later date ? Who knows but similar happened with Legend! 🤔 All speculation on our part!

Outside of this we’re not expecting massive changes to the formula … Odyssey of the Seas is incredibly popular in Italy & Greece, we’ve had a Freedom Class ship in the U.K. for a couple of years, of course we all hope for bigger and newer but it’s a nice size, they are much loved ships that can get into lots of ports and they tick a lot of boxes for Royal. We’ll see!

For our guests in Northern Ireland it will be interesting to see what ship is in Ravenna as we hope that the hugely popular Belfast charter can continue.

We're in launch season... which launch do you have your eye on? Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines of course launched their Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 2028 seasons yesterday (Wednesday 7th October). However they are the first in a long line of launches... here we go...

Silversea launch their Winter 2028 / 2029 Voyage Collection today with an incredible 75 day Grand South America Voyage one of the headlines. This bucket list adventure will see you experiencing the Panama Canal, cruising along the Amazon River, through the Chilean Fjords and even some scenic cruising in the Antarctic Peninsula! Royal Caribbean are releasing new seasons destination by destination... next week we are expecting Royal Caribbean to release their Summer 2028 sailings in Europe so that means we'll find out which ship is cruising out of the UK and which Icon Class ship will be in the Mediterranean (because we're 99% sure Royal will want to put an Icon Class ship in the Med again?? Surely...?)

Which day will this be released? Royal are saying week commencing 12th October but history would tell us that Wednesday is a typical release day so our money would be on the Wednesday 14th (this is not confirmed!!)

Seabourn have gone further and have launched their Summer 2029 collection which will see a return to Egypt for the first time in 5 years, a wonderful Canada & New England option with overnight stays and Alaska with Seabourns world class expedition team onboard to ensure you get the very most out of this region.

Seabourn's Summer 2029 season is on sale NOW for past guests with General sale open on the 13th October. There's a huge 10% saving for all guests but only if you book before 4th November! Fantastic!

Reserve your winter 2028/29 holiday from 8:30am on Tuesday 13 October 2026 to 8pm on Monday 19 October 2026. Then you can book your cruise on Tuesday 20th, Wednesday 21st or Thursday 22nd depending on your loyalty level and / or departure date...

Those key staterooms such as accessible staterooms are always first to go so pre-registration is key!

Cunard have dominated the news this week of course but in much more positive news a new season is coming... with brand new voyages for Winter 2028 / Spring 2029 on their way... !! We can't say much at this point, just watch this space with more details to come...

What a huge announcement in the last few minutes. In a press release P&O Cruises have announced that Cunard Queen Anne will move to P&O Cruises after it's world cruise in January 2029.

In May 2029 the ship will relaunch with a refresh and a new name for P&O Cruises!

Furthermore it has also been announced that P&O Arcadia will leave the P&O Cruises fleet and move to Holland America Line! Arcadia is a Vista Class vessel and there will be symmetry between Arcadia and existing Holland America Line ships Oosterdam, Noordam, Westerdam & Zuiderdam.

This is a great move for Holland America Line but does mean P&O Cruises do lose one of it's smaller ships which will impact on the itineraries offered and it's a loss of an adult only ship (on most sailings).

From P&O's point of view, obtaining Anne is a fantastic move but we're particularly disappointed for Cunard having launched Queen Anne to such fanfare in Liverpool Cruise Port, added an exciting modern ship to the fleet and seen 50% of Queen Annes guests new to the brand...

While we always referred to Queen Anne as a new ship with a Cunard twist rather than a true Cunard ship like Victoria, Elizabeth and Queen Mary 2, it did open up Cunard to so many of our guests who had always wanted to experience this iconic brand but loved new ships. Once they got onboard they got to see for themselves that this is a special brand and so many of the myths do not exist.

Where this leaves Cunard we don't quite know. The 3 Queens, Victoria, Elizabeth and Queen Mary 2 have all been refreshed or are going in for refresh and maybe this means that the focus will return to ensuring Cunard remain the premium, iconic brand they've always been. This is exactly as it should be and if that's the case then we're here for that....
