"Retail ready" means whatever the person saying it wants it to mean, so it is worth pinning down.

Ask whoever preps your stock whether it includes: a proper valet inside and out, road safety checks, a full PDI, and whether an MOT or any repair work gets arranged or just gets reported back to you.

Those last two words are where the week goes. A car that arrives with a list of jobs is not on your forecourt, it is in your way.

Get the answer in writing before the first one turns up.

Before you hand a car to anyone to move, take four photographs.

Both ends, both sides, wheels included, and one of the interior. Thirty seconds on your phone.

It sounds obvious and almost nobody does it, and it is the single thing that settles a damage argument before it starts. If a mark is queried a fortnight later, the only question that matters is what it looked like when it left, and a photograph is the only answer that ends the conversation.

We do it on every movement, at collection and at delivery. But do it yourself too. It costs you nothing and it protects you from everyone, us included.

DVSA officers were out working in partnership with West Mercia Police’s Roads Policing Unit bike team. 👮‍♂️🏍️

A car and trailer combination was stopped while transporting a vehicle between dealerships on a commercial journey (hire or reward). Checks uncovered multiple serious offences:

❌ No tachograph fitted
❌ No Operator Licence
❌ No records
❌ No CPC

Strong partnership working continues to ensure commercial vehicles are operating legally and safely on UK roads 🚗🚛🛣️
