🚫 Road closure bridge repair works - Works Postponed

⛈️ Unfortunately due to the adverse weather the site is currently unsafe for our road team and we have taken the decision to temporarily suspend these works. The works are due to take place instead on Wednesday 2 September

The road will be reopened today and will remain open until Wednesday when the rescheduled work will take place. We hope these will be finished on Friday 04/09. Thank you for your patience

🚦 TEMPORARY TRAFFIC LIGHTS

📍 Temporary Traffic lights Whitecross Road Update

➡️ To ease traffic flow in the area, the temporary four-way traffic lights currently in place at the Whitecross Road and Grimmer Road (Sainsbury’s) junction will operate overnight only from Wednesday 26 August to Friday 28 August, between 8pm and 6am. During the day, the permanent traffic lights will be in use.

The works by National Grid for essential underground cable reinforcement are expected to be completed by 31 August 2026, with minor follow-up works continuing until 10 September 2026.

🚫 OVERNIGHT ROAD CLOSURE - College Road Footbridge

🚧 Due to the closure of the College Road/Burcott Road footbridge, temporary traffic arrangements are being updated.

🌉 From early September, the road bridge will operate under a ONE-WAY SYSTEM ONLY, from Barrs Court Road towards Widemarsh Street, replacing the current temporary traffic lights.

🚶 More robust barriers will also be installed to provide extra protection for pedestrians and cyclists using the temporary route.

Please follow all signage and allow extra time for your journey.
