How many steps are there on the South West Coast Path ❔

5,000; 10,000; 20,000??

Maybe it comes as no surprise – but the answer is a staggering 30,000 steps!

Our volunteers survey the Coast Path for us every year, checking thousands of steps to make sure they are still safe and secure to use. Due to wear and tear and increasingly extreme weather, steps only last between 15-20 years. That means every year we need to replace about 1,000 steps along the Trail, and it costs £25 per step. That’s £25,000 every year to keep the Trail open and accessible for you to enjoy.

Our Step Up Appeal helps to fund essential maintenance and the replacement of steps along the Path. By donating to Step Up, you will help us and our partners to keep you moving on the Trail.

Following its successful London showing at Paddington Station in the spring, we are thrilled that the exhibition has travelled to the South West and can be viewed as part of Artober at Royal William Yard, Plymouth!

Twenty-one spectacular large-scale images of the South West Coast Path will be on display.
