Make sure when choosing this option for your European moves that you check what vehicle they are using and that they all have the proper paperwork to enable them to go over the channel :)

🚨Does your company operate small goods vehicles between the UK and the EU? If so you must be aware of the new Driver & Vehicle Standards rules coming into force soon.

🚚 From 1st July 2026, anyone driving a goods vehicle over 2.5 tonnes between the UK and the EU for 'hire and reward' (which includes removals) will need a smart tachograph 2 fitted.

You'll need to follow the same drivers' hours rules that HGV drivers already work to.

The lead time for booking tachograph fittings are currently 4 weeks or more. So unless you act immediately, you could find you are not road-legal for international jobs.

Note: If you're only driving within the UK, or doing international trips for your own account where driving isn't your main job, you're not in the scope of these new rules.

🚨BREAKING NEWS
The British Association of Removers Takes “Getting Britain Moving” Report Directly to Downing Street

Representatives from the British Association of Removers (BAR) have today delivered the “Getting Britain Moving” report directly to 10 Downing Street, calling on government to take urgent action to support housing mobility and economic growth.

The coordinated activity brought together senior figures from the British Association of Removers (BAR), College Green Group, and the Policy Liaison Group for Housing Delivery & Growth, marking the next phase of engagement following the report’s launch in Parliament.

The delivery of the report to Downing Street underscores the importance of ensuring that the findings and recommendations reach the heart of government, as industry leaders seek practical reforms to address long-standing inefficiencies in the homebuying and selling process.

“Getting Britain Moving” highlights the essential role played by the removals and storage sector in enabling over a million household moves each year, supporting labour mobility, and underpinning a functioning housing market. However, it also sets out the growing challenges facing the sector, including transaction delays, rising costs, skills shortages, and the expansion of an unregulated informal market.

By formally presenting the report to government, industry representatives are calling for greater recognition of the removals and storage sector as a critical part of the UK’s economic infrastructure, and for targeted policy interventions to improve the speed, certainty, and fairness of the housing system.

Andrew Large, Director General, BAR, said; “Today’s delivery of this report to Downing Street is about ensuring that the voice of our sector is heard at the highest level of government.
The removals and storage industry plays a vital, often overlooked role in keeping the housing market moving and the economy functioning. The barriers identified in this report are not just industry challenges - they have real consequences for individuals, families, and businesses across the UK. We are setting out clear, practical recommendations, and we look forward to working with government to ensure these are taken forward.”

The activity builds on the recent parliamentary launch of the report and ongoing engagement with policymakers, as the sector continues to make the case for reforms that support housing delivery, economic growth, and consumer confidence.

The BAR, alongside its partners, will continue to engage constructively with government and stakeholders to ensure the sector’s contribution is recognised and its challenges addressed.

One of two imports we have had this week to offload. Nice camping trailer being brought back to the UK from New Zealand. This was offloaded with the assistance of Sam’s garage in Heckington and our crew.
We then delivered the household effects to the customers property.
Always nice to do something different 😊😀

We have been assessed this morning by the BAR for the new Standard BS EN 12522 and I am pleased to say we passed with flying colours.
If you’re not sure what the BAR offer removal companies and why we belong to it, I will try and list a few of the benefits they offer.
All our staff are trained by a fully qualified BAR teacher to learn how to pack customers’ goods and prepare them properly for moving. They also learn how to prepare goods for shipping all over the world.
The BAR assessment also looks into the drivers CPC details to check they are all up to date and the relevant CPC training has been done.
We have to show all of our insurance policies are in place and up to date to make sure we are covered for removals and storage.
The inspector goes through all of our paperwork to make sure all of the information the customer needs is shown on our quotations and acceptance forms.
Onsite at our depot, we have to show all of our Health and Safety policies are up to date.
Our vehicles checks and maintenance schedules are all checked over as well.
Checks are made to make sure our staff are all on full time contracts with pensions and PAYE in place.
This just gives you a few pieces of information to show why we belong to BAR, it protects us and our customers and gives peace of mind when choosing a removal company
