Coming back into harbour always feels a little strange.

A few hours earlier, your whole world was wind direction, sails, waves and the people around you.

Then suddenly there are cars again.

Phones start getting signal.

Messages arrive.

Life switches itself back on.

And before you’ve even tied everything up properly, part of you is already wondering when you can get back out there again.

26/08/2026

Some of the best bits of sailing happen when absolutely nothing is happening.

Nobody is rushing.

Nobody needs anything.

The boat is settled, the sails are doing their job and there’s a bit of sea ahead of you with nowhere you urgently need to be.

Those are often the moments you remember.

Not because anything spectacular happened.

Quite the opposite.

24/08/2026

You know it’s been a good day on the water when you get home and can still feel the boat moving.

You’re standing in the shower and, for half a second, the floor seems to sway underneath you.

Anyone who sails knows exactly what I mean.

It’s a slightly strange feeling.

But it normally comes with the satisfaction of knowing you spent the day somewhere you’d rather have been.
