After seven weeks of abnormal load movements through the Scottish Highlands, the final turbine components have now arrived on site.

The delivery programme has seen our teams transport turbine components from the Ports of Nigg and Invergordon, navigating challenging sections of the route through Sutherland to Lairg II.

A new addition. A new capability for Collett.

We have expanded our specialist fleet with the addition of a new Greiner BUSY 1050 Bridge Crossing System.

Providing an engineered solution for overcoming bridges, culverts and other load-restricted structures, the modular system can overbridge structures up to 25 metres.

The investment reflects our continued focus on developing our specialist fleet around the changing requirements of our clients. Adding the BUSY 1050 provides another capability that can be considered from the early stages of route planning through to the final transport operation.

More shots from the concrete beam deliveries for the HS2 M42 ‘Twin Box’ project near Solihull.

Transporting beams weighing up to 89 tonnes from FTB JV in Melton Mowbray, with deliveries continuing throughout 2026 as part of Collett’s wider involvement in the HS2 programme.

Collett continues to support the delivery of HS2, providing specialist transport services for the new M42 ‘twin box’ structure near Solihull.

Since March, our team has been coordinating the phased delivery of precast concrete beams from FTB JV in Melton Mowbray, working closely with the construction programme to ensure components arrive in line with installation requirements.

With the largest roof beams, weighing up to 89 Tonnes, now delivered and installation underway, deliveries will continue throughout 2026. Once complete, Collett will have transported 293 beams for the structure.

Located on the HS2 mainline less than a mile from the new Interchange Station in Solihull, the 300-metre-long twin box will carry four railway tracks over the M42, connecting the Packington and Pool Wood embankments on either side of the motorway.

Our work on the M42 structure forms part of Collett’s wider involvement in major UK infrastructure projects, with our teams supporting projects across the rail, highways and energy sectors.

We are saddened to share the passing of our long-standing colleague and friend, Jason Nunn.

Jason joined Collett on the 19th July 1995 and dedicated more than 31 years to the company, making him one of our longest-serving employees.

During that time, Jason became a highly respected member of the team. He spent many years working in lorry-loader lifting operations, where his technical knowledge and experience were highly valued, before making the move into pilot car driving.

Jason will be remembered by those who knew him for his calm and considered nature, his friendly attitude and the respect he showed to those around him. Over 31 years at Collett, he formed many friendships and working relationships across the company.

On Friday, Jason’s family, friends and colleagues came together to pay their respects, with Jason carried on the back of a Collett truck in recognition of the many years he spent within the company and the transport industry.

Jason will be greatly missed by us all and our thoughts remain with his family and friends.

Rest in peace, Jason.

From port to plinth, Collett has successfully completed the transport and installation of a transformer weighing over 200 Tonnes, manufactured by HD Hyundai Electric at National Grid's Imperial Park Substation.

The operation began at ABP's Alexandra Docks in Newport, where the transformer was rolled off the Terra Marique, loaded on a 16-axle modular flat-top trailer. With steep inclines along sections of the route, additional support was required, with a second truck deployed in a push-pull configuration to provide extra traction during the climb.

Following arrival at substation site, the transformer was transhipped onto a 10-axle SPMT for movement across site to the bund wall. The final installation was completed using hydraulic jacking and skidding equipment, positioning the unit onto the final plinth.

Yesterday, we said our final farewell to our friend and colleague, Russ Gledhill.
Fittingly, Russ made his final journey on the back of a Collett truck, surrounded by the industry and vehicles that had played such an important part of his life.

Russ joined Collett in 1984 and over the following four decades became a familiar and respected member of the team. From his years as a heavy haulage driver his later work as a towing assist driver with our Renewables Team, Russ approached every job with professionalism, pride and a commitment to doing things right.

The final photo shows Russ’s Scania 143M 450 V8, which was a familiar sight during the years he operated his own truck. Russ worked alongside Collett, using his vehicle to support our transport operations.

More than anything, Russ will be remembered for his friendly nature, his willingness to help and the many memories he leaves behind with colleagues and friends across Collett.

Our thoughts remain with Russ’s family and friends.
Rest in peace, Russ.
