The railway line at Ludborough originally opened in 1848 and was part of the Great Northern Grimsby to Boston route. Up until 1970, trains would frequently pass through to many destinations, including London and the Midlands. The station, platforms and signal box at Ludborough were rebuilt, the track relayed and steam trains now travel between Ludborough & North Thoresby with an extension of the

line in future years. We have a selection of normal running days where we offer on-board live commentary & also different events throughout the year which often involve on-board entertainment. Our facilities at Ludborough Station include a gift shop which incorporates a small museum, Hagglers Halt Bargain Hut where you can pick up a bargain, toilets on board the train and also on Ludborough Station, (No toilet facilities at North Thoresby)
We have our Steaming Kettle Café offering light refreshments, Guided engine shed tours (Depends on volunteer availability), Ludborough Station Clue Trail, Children's play area, Free Car Park (Grassed Area), Picnic area. Please check out our pages and official website for more information.

NOTE for any visitors today for our onboard entertainment ‘Songs of Greatest Showman’

Good Morning everyone…

As most will know it’s going to creep towards the 30 degree mark today, this makes it very difficult to entertain dancing around due to the heat and we all need to make sure as volunteers that health comes first.

I have therefore made the difficult decision to cancel onboard entertainment later in the day,
I will try to entertain on the first three trains before it gets too hot but if you are making a special journey for the entertainment on a later train then please ring to check first.

Of course we are still running trains as scheduled and you are welcome to come along for a relaxing journey.

We also highly recommend that dogs are left at home on this hot day, we will have the treats and water out for any dogs but again although we are very dog friendly, we echo that it would be better for them to be left at home out of the hot sun.

Visit the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway this bank holiday weekend, come & join in the fun with Marc with onboard entertainment this Sunday & Monday.

Marc will get you dancing in your seats as you listen to the songs of the greatest showman, along with other fun tunes.

*PLEASE NOTE: Music is loud, pre-recorded mixed to one way journey time and wireless speakers used in entertainment carriage.

First train 10.45am, hourly with last train 3.45pm -
No entertainment on last train.

Adults and Children encouraged to come in fancy dress.

Join us at the end of the month for a fun weekend - Sun 24th and Mon 25th May
with songs from the greatest showman at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway.

Travel with Marc our volunteer, in the entertainment carriage who will get you all lively and dancing in your seats.

Feel free to come in your best fancy dress, adults and children, we want everyone having fun….
Listen to the songs of the greatest showman and feel free to sing / dance in your seats.

Be aware:

~ We use prerecorded music and wireless speakers so therefore:

Entertainment on each train is subject to change due to any technical issues or low passenger numbers.

~ Seats in entertainment carriage are on a first come / first served basis but your tickets allow all day travel.

~ No entertainment on last train.

~ Entertainment provided complementary within your ticket price.
