Yesterday, we gathered at Anchor Cove, Bawley Bay, on the Thames riverside, to mark Merchant Navy Day.

We were deeply honoured to welcome Dr Bhargawa Vasudaven, Deputy Lieutenant for Kent, to our riparian borough for this moving commemorative service, led by the Reverend Jacqueline Littlewood.

Through heartfelt hymns, prayers, and speeches, our community came together to reflect on the profound sacrifices of our maritime heroes. The service culminated in a formal wreath-laying ceremony, serving as a powerful tribute to the enduring legacy and vital ongoing contributions of the Merchant Navy.
