⭐Meet the Team Monday⭐

This week is a very special one as we shine the spotlight on the driving force behind everything we do - our Managing Director, Jon Atkinson.

Jon’s journey is one of hard work and determination 💪. Leaving school at 16, he quickly stepped into the motor industry on a youth training scheme before joining Gordons Transport 🚚. 38 years later, he’s still here - a true testament to his commitment, resilience, and passion for the business.

Throughout the years, Jon has shown incredible commitment, making sacrifices along the way, but always staying focused on delivering the best for clients while creating opportunities for the team around him.

Last year, Jon was initially hesitant about attending the Driffield Truck Fest 🎉 - a weekend in a field surrounded by diesel fumes and air horns was far from his usual comfort zone. But he took the plunge, and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences, giving him the chance to connect with staff, ex-employees, customers, and the wider transport community 🤝.

Jon is the heart of the business ❤️, a truly hands-on leader who is always there to support, guide, and motivate the team every single day. His strategic mindset and decisive leadership have shaped the direction of the company and continue to push us forward 🚀, but what really sets him apart is his commitment to people. Leading by example, he works alongside the team and never hesitates to go the extra mile to ensure everyone feels valued and supported 🌟.

Quite simply, the business wouldn’t be what it is today without him 🙏.

🏎️💨 Racing for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance! 🏎️

Last Friday, the Gordons Team hit the track for a thrilling go-kart fundraiser event at TeamSport Karting in support of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. From fast laps to big smiles, everyone brought their energy and team spirit to help raise funds for this life-saving service! 😃🏁

A huge thank you to our amazing team and everyone who supported this fantastic cause - we’re thrilled to share that together, we raised £410.00 from participating drivers 💰🚁

We also held a Charity Raffle Prize draw with special thanks to Ruchee Knottingley, Birkin Fisheries Tea Room & Ice Cream Shed, Bettys and Wigfield Farm for their generous raffle prize contributions — your support helped make the event even more successful with a further £145.00 funds raised.

Fantastic effort from everyone involved raising on overall £555.00! Thank you so much for your support and dedication👏👏

🌟 Meet the Team Monday 🌟

This week, we recognise Kevin Gordon, the driving force behind keeping our engines running and wheels turning.

Kevin, Director and Head of Fleet Maintenance, left school at just 16 to begin an apprenticeship with a local firm before joining the family business 42 years ago. His dedication and expertise have been instrumental in maintaining the highest standards across our fleet.

Our OCRS score with the DVSA—currently Green with a combined score of 0.384—is a testament to Kevin’s commitment to excellence, safety, and workmanship.

What Kevin enjoys most about the role is seeing how the industry, vehicles, technology, and innovation have evolved over the years. Among his career highlights are planning our purpose-built workshop at our 7-acre site in Beal and implementing new systems with innovation. The most recent being working with Samsara and the introduction of our Electronic Brake Performance Monitoring (EBPMS) ensuring our fleet meets the latest DVSA requirements.

With a wealth of knowledge and an impressive list of industry qualifications, Kevin has also played a key role in mentoring the next generation, supporting team members including John, Josh, and our newest apprentice, Jake.

🌟Meet the Team Monday 🌟

This week we're highlighting Fiona. With over 30 years experience in the business, Fiona is a solid foundation of the team.

Whilst her role is predominately in Finance & HR, she's happy to get stuck in and offer support where its needed, whether that be mopping floors, making the coffee or lending an ear. Whilst she may not have her HGV licence, she's a formidable driving force within the business.

Fiona's biggest professional achievement is carrying on the legacy of the family business that her parents started. Fiona is the first to acknowledge that the companies success could not be possible without the dedication of our valued staff and loyal customers.

Fundraising for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance has added a new dimension to her role with event planning and hosting charity events. Its been great to see so much support and generosity.

🌟 Meet the Team Monday 🌟

This week we’re introducing Adam Cook, one of our dedicated and highly adaptable Es**rt Drivers here at Gordons Transport Ltd.

Adam has been part of the Gordons team for 5 years. As a HTA City & Guilds qualified Abnormal Load Es**rt Driver, he supports the safe movement of abnormal loads. When not escorting, he assists in the workshop and yard contributing wherever needed to ensure seamless operations.🛠️

Adam played a key role and was particularly proud of the modular residential projects we delivered. This included projects in Selby, Kent & Bristol, spanning over 4 years with multiple deliveries of abnormal loads, including STGO movements at 5 meters wide. All three project were completed to a high standard meeting the client demands and expectations.

Such projects require careful planning, precision and teamwork to ensure abnormal loads reach the destination safely and on time.📍

We’re proud to have Adam as part of the Gordons Transport team. 🙌

✨ Meet the Team Monday ✨

In celebration of this weeks International Womens Day and especially Women in Transport, we’re delighted to introduce Chloe Thrupp 🎉. Chloe is the newest member of our team who joined us at the beginning of the year.

Chloe began a career in logistics at 18 after leaving college, where she studied aviation operations and aviation environments. Although a career in transport hadn’t been the initial career pathway, having a family background in the industry certainly highlighted how varied, challenging and fast-paced the work could be.

Since then, Chloe has gained valuable experience across a range of roles, including planning, legal compliance, financial processing and fleet while working within multiple transport sectors such as general haulage, container and port haulage and temperature-controlled distribution.

“What I enjoy most is the constant variety; no two days are ever the same, and there is always something new to learn. Being part of a continuously evolving industry is what keeps me motivated. I aim to apply both practical experience and a people-focused approach in my role”.

Chloe’s professional qualifications include the Transport Manager CPC, Level 3 CIPD in People Practice along with Mental Health First Aid training. Since joining our team Chloe has commenced with the FORS approved training modules working towards gaining the FORS Advanced Practitioner certification.

Chloe has made a great impression within the team and we look forward to supporting her progression with new challenges and responsibilities ahead.

🚛 Meet the Team Monday 🚛

This week we’re proud to introduce Clint Harmer - our Driver Trainer and one of the most versatile members of the team at Gordons.

Clint has been with Gordons for 15 years and brings a diverse skill set that allows him to confidently step in and support the team wherever he’s needed most.

Alongside driving, he delivers driver inductions and ongoing training, supports admin in the office and oversees legal compliance paperwork. He’s also a critical link between our drivers and the office, making sure communication flows smoothly whilst offering reliable and dependable support.

His professional qualifications include TTC Driver Assessor, HTA NVQ in Driver Es**rting, IOSH, and FORS Advanced Practitioner.

Outside of work, Clint is an avid supporter of Castleford Tigers Rugby League Club and Liverpool Football club.

Clint’s dedication and flexibility make a real difference to the business every day. Thank you for everything you do, Clint! 👏

Say hello to Jonathan Greaves, one of our longest-serving stars, celebrating an incredible 30 years with the company! 🎉

Jonathan’s day-to-day role involves servicing, handling defects, and MOT preparation. Thanks to his hard work and expertise, he consistently achieves an excellent 100% 1st time MOT pass rate - a true testament to his expertise and commitment.

But this week, we’re celebrating more than just his work - Jonathan tied the knot over the weekend on Valentines Day! 💍❤️ Wishing the new Mr & Mrs Greaves a lifetime of happiness and a wonderful honeymoon! 🌴✈️.
