Did You Know? Your Septic Tank Doesn't Just Fill With Waste...

Most people think a septic tank simply stores waste until it's emptied, but there's much more going on underground.

Inside the tank, naturally occurring bacteria begin breaking down solid waste, separating it into three layers:
💧 Liquid effluent
🟤 Sludge at the bottom
🫧 Scum floating on the surface

Over time, the sludge continues to build up. If it's left too long, it can reduce the tank's capacity, lead to unpleasant odours and, in some cases, cause expensive drainage problems.

Regular emptying helps keep your system working efficiently and can prevent costly repairs further down the line.
