Another unforgettable weekend at Staffordshire Wild Festival – affectionately known as “the lake one” by regulars! ☀️🌿🚐

The sun certainly turned up for this year’s festival, making it one of the hottest weekends we’ve experienced. Thankfully, we had the comfort of the motorhome to retreat to when we needed a break from the heat, before heading back out to enjoy everything the festival had to offer.

One of the things we love most about the Wild Festivals is their focus on family fun, connection and community. This weekend we picked up new skills, joined the daily Qi Gong sessions, headed out on fascinating foraging walks, took part in quizzes with new friends, enjoyed perhaps a few too many drinks, and soaked up some fantastic live music. As always, the fire pit jamming sessions carried on long into the evening and were a real highlight.

The Wild Festivals started as small gatherings celebrating outdoor living, bushcraft, wellbeing and nature connection. While they’ve grown over the years, they’ve managed to keep the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that makes them so special.

We’ve clocked up a few of these festivals now, and they remain some of the friendliest events we’ve ever attended. Bigger than they used to be? Yes. But still absolutely fantastic.

We’re a little sad that this was our last Wild Festival of the year, as we’ve got some bigger adventures planned over the coming months. But we’ll definitely be back next year for more campfire music, new friendships and unforgettable weekends.

Has anyone else been to a Wild Festival? We’d love to hear which one is your favourite! 🌲🔥🎶

Well, what do I have in common with this legend? We both have special birthdays today. 🎉

Today, David Attenborough turns 100… and I turn 60.

Now, I’m not suggesting we’ve had quite the same impact on the planet… 😂

David has spent decades travelling the world in search of rare wildlife.
I’ve spent years touring Europe in a motorhome looking for decent campsites, dog-friendly pubs, and somewhere to empty the loo cassette without incident.

He’s crossed jungles, deserts and oceans.
I’ve crossed ferry terminals, motorway services and the occasional muddy field in Poland.

He documents nature for millions of viewers.
I document two dogs refusing to pose nicely for Instagram.

David can identify exotic birds from a single call.
I can identify which one of my dogs is about to be sick just from the sound of the gagging.

He’s dedicated his life to conservation.
I’m dedicated to conserving battery power and finding free overnight parking.

And somehow… we’ve both made it this far with a sense of adventure intact.

Happy 100th Birthday to my birthday buddy, Sir David. I’ll raise a glass of bubbly (or two) to you tonight from my much less glamorous wildlife habitat - the motorhome parked up in our field. 🚐🐾🌍
