Today (September 19th) is National and International Tradesmen Day. It is a great opportunity to recognise the hard work and expertise of skilled tradespeople, which includes the hard-working and multi-skilled removal operative.
The removals industry is considered a professional trade in the UK, with the British Association of Removers (BAR) as its recognised trade association. As a profession, removals involves specialised skills for estimating, pricing, packing, loading, transporting, and storing household and business goods, and the professional end of the industry is regulated with requirements for operator's licenses, insurance, and codes of practice to ensure quality and consumer protection.
The drivers and crews who help people move home and relocate businesses are experts in assessing and handling loads, work seamlessly as teams and demonstrate excellent people skills through their daily customer interactions - during the final stage of what may have been a stressful process for the customer or client.
Removal companies can provide defined career pathways for progression within the industry, and through the BAR there are a number of driving and industry-specific Apprenticeships available for those new to removals, as well as dozens of Training courses for people seeking further progression.
Find out more about the BAR here: www.bar.co.uk where you can also find contact details of BAR Member movers local to you.
