It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Shirley Prince on 4th Dec 2022.

Beloved wife to Damian Prince, mother to Chole-anne and Joseph, a valued and much loved member of VGT Taxis staff (and Riverside Cabco) family for over 16 years.

Shirley knew how to enjoy the moment, life was an adventure, full of enthusiasm, joy, fun, energy and always a major part of the party. But above all, Shirley was the personification of what we call a “good person”. This expression is simple but at the same time perhaps the greatest quality a person can have.
This is, for all of us, the example and the legacy she leaves with us. May her memory be eternal!

Funeral service Aldershot Crematorium, Friday 6th January at 2.15pm. Followed by a celebration of her life at the North Hants Golf Club, the family would love to see you there wearing colour to reflect her bright personality.

Due to the funeral, we will be operating with limited staff on Friday the 6th Jan, will will be switching to ASAP trips only between 1400 and 1600 in Fleet and Hook.

Please be patient if you require transport that day as we will have greatly reduced staff in the office and driver on the road.

Charley Boorman leads a group of friends, including Iwan Thomas, Wayne Bridge, Matthew Wright, and Damon Hill to stand up paddle board (SUP) the length of the Basingstoke Canal in support of men’s mental and physical health.
We will be taking all the team around over their epic challenge.

VGT Taxis have signed up to the Safe Taxi Charter, A nationwide campaign to keep taxis as safe as possible.

The Safe Taxi Charter is a promise by the UK Taxi and Private Hire industry to adhere to the very highest standards of sanitation.
We have engaged with all our drivers to make sure our taxis are as safe as they can be. Of all the public transport options (unlike a bus or a train), taxis allow you to travel by yourself, to control the ventilation, in an environment that is cleaned between each passenger.

Additionally our drivers will wear a mask to help keep you safe and all our vehicles accept card payment, which can be made via contactless payment up to £45 and chip and pin above that.

VGT taxis have been operating throughout the covid crisis, undertaking your essential transport needs. As lockdown is relaxed and you start to look for transport option, please remember we are here to help.

VGT is a local business engaging around 100 local people in our office and driving workforce.
We operate a UK call centre, based locally, covering booking 24 hours a day.

As drivers return to work they are being instructed to clean the door handle both inside and out, the seat belt and the area any passengers sat in between each trip. We are also supplying each driver with a pack of masks and anti-bacterial Wipes and Gel.

When you do travel, please sit in the back, behind the passenger’s seat. We recommend you open your window a small amount, to allow airflow.

We await the detail on the government announcement regarding the compulsory use of masks from the 15th June for confirmation that taxis are included (not just mass transport like trains and buses). We would request that if you do have access to a mask, please use it during your journey. We will adapt to the new guidelines and legislation once the detail is released and entrust our passengers will also embrace this.
