The second city in my City Break Series is Rome!

Rome really isn’t a city to rush. It’s a city to experience.
Of course, you’ll want to see the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and those iconic sights and you absolutely should.

But don’t think you need to fill every minute of your trip ticking things off a list.

Leave time to wander down a street you didn’t plan to, stop for a coffee, eat some really good food, discover somewhere unexpected, learn something new and just soak up the atmosphere… because that’s when you really get to experience Rome.

Think Lapland is just for little kids? Think again.

I’ve been lucky enough to visit Lapland twice. Once with my girls when they were little, when it was all about extending that Christmas magic😜 and once with a group of adults in a previous work life (are they still called jollies?! 😂).

And Lapland works brilliantly for older teens and adults too.

Think less ‘Santa and elves’ and more Arctic adventure, incredible scenery and a seriously memorable escape.

Wow you guys clearly love a city break! Loads of you voted in the recent poll on my Stories so thank you.

Budapest came out top…. by just one vote! It was close!

But I can see why, Budapest is one of those cities that seems to have a bit of everything.

Beautiful architecture, incredible food, thermal baths, a brilliant cafe and bar scene, the Danube running through the middle and all without the price tag of some of Europe’s bigger cities. Plus of course there’s that wonderful Christmas market ahead of us.

I was overwhelmed to receive this lovely message from a recent client!

This family of four with older teens wanted to explore Sri Lanka, but they didn’t want a holiday centred around temples and museums.

They wanted to get out, get active and experience the country together.

So that’s exactly what we created with activities like:

Hiking the Pekoe Trail
A local village walk and home-cooked lunch
E-biking around Kandy
Sunset kayaking and boat safaris
Jungle drives
Cooking lessons

And of course, plenty of downtime to enjoy the handpicked boutique hotels.

A brilliant guide/driver, an itinerary designed around their family and as they described it: a “hassle-free holiday of a lifetime.”

Krakow!

I’m heading there in September for my host agency’s annual conference and have a day of exploring planned with some of the All Things Travel team. I can’t wait!!

I’ve never been before and so if you’ve been and have a restaurant recommendation (or somewhere else I shouldn’t miss), please send them my way!
