How to improve access to Fareham town centre - a core part of the current regeneration plan. Relax the no cycling restriction along West Street; particularly important for the less mobile (Wi******er has a pedestrian and cycling zone). Remove the no cycling restriction on Westbury Road and improve pedestrian and mobility scooter access via Palmerston Ave. This would give direct access to the town centre from the north rather than the busy LCWIP route via Osborn Road

Two new pedestrian crossings are to be installed on Brook Lane, Park Gate, to the north and south of the community hospital entrance. A small gain in safety, mainly due to the build outs at the crossings, which it is hoped, will reduce vehicle speeds near the hospital and surgery entrances.
There are still the narrow paths for pedestrians to contend with.
Better to reconfigure the hospital entrance with suitable crossings to slow traffic?
The dropped kerbs to the Hollybrook Gardens footpath are already in place

Funtley Hill M27 underpass. The underpass has been reconfigured to accommodate the re-routed bridle path and access lost as a result of the new M27 junction for Welborne Garden Village.
It provides a shared use path for pedestrians, cyclists, equine and other non motorised users.
Priority for vehicles using the road (not right of way) is for vehicles travelling down the hill. Cyclists travelling up the hill can use the dropped kerb access points to use the SUP under the motorway.

Good result! Just a thought, if you guys can see someone dressed in black at night, why do so many people driving cars apparently not see me riding a bicycle wearing fluorescent / reflective clothing in broad daylight?

🚧 PROPOSED SPEED LIMIT CHANGE – OAKCROFT LANE, STUBBINGTON 🚧

Hampshire County Council has proposed to reduce the speed limit on Oakcroft Lane, Stubbington from 60mph to 30mph.

This change is part of a new traffic order titled:
β€œThe Hampshire (Oakcroft Lane and Ranvilles Lane, Fareham) (30 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2025.”

πŸ“£ Have Your Say:
Residents are invited to submit objections or support representations regarding this proposal.

πŸ“ How to Respond:
All comments must be made in writing and include the grounds for your objection or support.

πŸ“ Send by post to:

βœ‰οΈ Or by email to: [email protected]
πŸ“Œ Reference: C882/KK

πŸ—“οΈ Deadline: Friday 17th October 2025

Please note: Any comments submitted may be made available to the public and press under access to information laws.

πŸ‘€ Personal Note:
I personally welcome the proposed reduction in the speed limit. Oakcroft Lane is simply not suited to 60mph traffic. I’ll also be enquiring with the Council about how the new limit will be enforced, as that will be key to making it effective.
