We’re proudly supporting Samaritans latest campaign, Brew Monday.

Today is supposedly Blue Monday - alleged to be one of the most depressing days of the year, but we’re helping the Samaritans turn Blue Monday into ‘Brew Monday.’

It’s encouraging everyone to have a cuppa and a chat with those who may be going through a tough time – it could be a neighbour, colleague, relative or friend. Showing you care and simply listening could save a life.

As part of this campaign, local events are happening at some of our railway stations. At London’s King’s Cross and Glasgow Central we’re handing out free tea bags to passengers to take part in Brew Monday.

Back in October we launched an innovative smartphone app called ‘Signly Network Rail’ that will help enable the one in six deaf people who live in the UK to access a range of information to help them use level crossings safely -> https://www.networkrail.co.uk/everyone-across-safely/

We worked with the The Royal Association for Deaf people (RAD), Action on Hearing Loss Scope, the Built Environment Accessibility Panel and The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (UK) to produce an accessible user guide.

This offers safety advice and information on audio, visual and tactile cues and also the warnings that are present at some of Britain’s level crossings to help users know when it is safe to cross the tracks.

The app is free and available in the Apple App store and Google Play.

In the past year, using the training they’ve received from Samaritans, railway staff have intervened to assist 450 people who otherwise may have come to harm on the rail network.

We work in partnership with the Samaritans to promote this kind of safe action – check out theirlatest campaign > http://www.samaritans.org/takeaction

We are one of many proud supporters of Samaritans in the rail industry.

It’s a partnership that’s seen more than 11,500 rail staff trained in listening and confidence skills, enabling them to identify people at risk on the railway, and offer them any help they may need.

Chris received a 750 volt electric shock through his leg and into his body after deciding to cross the railway after a day out drinking -> http://ow.ly/oHJr306sErr

He now works with us, using his story to warn others about the dangers of drinking, and how a moment of clouded judgement can have consequences that last a lifetime.

Christmas should be a time of year when everyone can enjoy themselves and have fun. But for some festive revellers it can spell danger, with...
