🚌 Service 309 – Important £2 Fare Cap Information

From Monday 7 September, the new £2 Bus Fare Cap comes into effect on eligible McColl’s services.

There is one important difference for passengers using Service 309 to Drymen and Balmaha.

📍 Gartocharn is the final fare stage within the SPT £2 fare-cap area.

This means eligible single journeys to Gartocharn or within the SPT area will cost no more than £2.

For journeys continuing beyond Gartocharn towards Croftamie, Drymen and Balmaha, our existing through fares will continue to apply.

We will NOT add £2 to your existing Drymen or Balmaha fare. For example:

Alexandria → Drymen: £4.00
Alexandria → Balmaha: £4.30

Simply tell your driver your destination when boarding and the ticket machine will show the appropriate fare.

🏞️ Loch Lomond Tickets will also remain available through myTrip for Service 309 only, including the Adult Return and 10 Journey options.

🚌 Farewell to Service 184

This evening, our Service 184 completed its final journey.

The 184 has been a familiar part of the Clydebank area bus network for many years, connecting communities including Antonine Park, Dalmuir, Drumry, Clydebank and Whitecrook.

McColl’s association with the 184 goes back around 15 years, and over that time our drivers have carried countless passengers to work, the shops, appointments, school, to visit family and friends, and simply to get around their local community.

Sadly, following SPT’s decision to withdraw the supported 184 service due to the introduction of a new commercial service, tonight marks the end of our operation of the route.

For our drivers in particular, many of whom have driven the 184 for years and got to know the regular passengers along the way, it really is the end of an era.

We would like to say a sincere thank you to everyone who has travelled with us on the 184 over the years. Whether you’ve been a daily regular or only travelled with us occasionally, we have genuinely appreciated your support.

We would also like to thank all of the drivers and staff, past and present, who have helped keep the 184 running over the years.

✅ Following a positive response from Police Scotland and local elected members, we will resume Service 184 serving Whitecrook following temporary suspension.

🚧 Service 84 – Roadworks & Diversions 🚧

Please be aware that B8048 Waterside Road will be closed for carriageway resurfacing works over a two-week period, affecting Service 84.

📅 Sunday 26 July – Sunday 2 August
The road will be closed between Market Road and Merkland Drive.
Service 84 will operate via:
Merkland Drive → Muirside Avenue → Jura Drive → Iona Way → B8048 Waterside, before resuming its normal route.
Journeys towards Kirkintilloch will follow the same diversion in reverse.

📅 Sunday 2 August – Sunday 9 August
The closure will move to between Iona Way and Braes O’ Yetts Drive.
Service 84 will operate via:
Merkland Drive → Woodstock Avenue → Newdyke Road → Hillhead Road → East Side → Kilsyth Road → B8023 → Main Street → MacDonald Crescent, before returning to its normal route.
Journeys towards Kirkintilloch will follow the same diversion in reverse.
