🔧 Sometimes you just have to work with what you’ve got!

This Scania stopped at the services and refused to start, leaving the driver going absolutely nowhere.

Diagnostics traced the fault to the ECU. A replacement unit was supplied and fitted on the spot, with our trusty Transit kindly donating some power for the bench setup and programming. 😅

Replacement ECU fitted, programmed and tested.

⏱️ Around an hour later, the Scania was running and back on the road.

No recovery. No workshop visit. No unnecessary downtime.

🌙 Late Evening Mercedes Actros Gearbox Breakdown

Customer called with a 2008 Mercedes Actros stuck in 8th gear and refusing to change.

By the time we arrived, things had progressed further and the truck had completely lost gear selection.

With the vehicle stranded at the services, we carried out on-site diagnostics and traced the problem to the clutch stroke sensor circuit.

The culprit? A poor connection at the clutch stroke sensor plug.

Connection repaired, clutch position signal restored and the gearbox immediately returned to normal operation. Truck back selecting gears and back on the road the same evening. ✅

Another reminder that a gearbox fault doesn’t necessarily mean a gearbox failure. Sometimes one bad electrical connection is enough to park an entire HGV.

Another day, another vehicle nobody wanted to touch…

Today’s patient was a CNG Iveco suffering from a heavy misfire, warning lights everywhere and generally doing its best impression of a Christmas tree. Which, to be fair, is about the closest most Ivecos get to festive cheer.

After proper diagnostics, the fault was traced to a failed ELDOR ECU. New unit fitted, configured and tested, and the engine was back running as it should.

The customer can now get it exported without worrying whether it’ll make it to the docks.

Sometimes it’s not about replacing half the truck. It’s about finding the actual fault first.

It’s not every day we get a nice, straightforward job in! 🛠️
While we spend most of our time head-first in wiring diagrams hunting down random, phantom electrical faults, this one was a proper breath of fresh air.
All we needed to do on this cracking Little Park Farm Volvo was convert the signature DRL headlights over to orange. Simple, clean, and looks absolutely spot-on.
Always a pleasure working on a truck that’s kept in top condition like this one! 👌

Attempting to master the water on family holiday... safe to say I should probably stick to Scania diagnostics and truck spanners! 🌊 Wipeouts aside, having a great time away with the family, though at this rate, I’m not sure if I’ll actually make it back in one piece. See you all soon (hopefully)! 🚛🔧

DC13 EMS following trends and identifying as a DC16 V8. 😂6️⃣➡️8️⃣

opened up a Scania S8 ECU from an inline-6, traced the board, modified the hardware & software, and converted it to run this S580 V8.

Why wait weeks for main dealers when you can re-engineer modules on the bench? 🛠️⚡

🧠 Inside a Scania EMS S8 ECU: This isn’t your average diagnostics job!
When a truck develops a complex engine management fault, some places just read the fault codes and tell you to buy an expensive brand-new module. We prefer a deeper look.
This is a Scania EMS S8 Engine Control Unit open on the test bench. If you've ever worked on these, you know they are notoriously difficult to service. The entire circuit board is completely submerged in a thick, protective silicone gel potting compound from the factory.
🔬 The Bench Process:
Chemical Precision: To even begin checking internal components—like the injector transistors or power supply lines—we have to meticulously dissolve and clear away that stubborn protective gel without lifting or damaging the microscopic surface-mount (SMD) components underneath.
Component Testing: Once the board is exposed, we can accurately map out the circuits, check internal traces, and perform component-level diagnostics.
It takes a lot of patience, specialized solvents, and a steady hand, but it’s the difference between a precise component repair and a massive bill for an unnecessary replacement unit. 🛠️⚡

🎯 Dynamic ADAS Calibration on a DAF CF Euro 6!
Not all ADAS calibrations require massive, time-consuming static board configurations or targeting frames in the workshop. Today, we took a slightly different route with this DAF CF E6's Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) radar sensor calibration.
Instead of traditional alignment targets, this system relies on a dynamic calibration sequence.
⚡ How it works:
We initiate the procedure directly via our Jaltest diagnostic system.
The truck is then taken on a specific road trip (roughly 20 minutes).
The radar sensor automatically recalculates and maps its reference values live on the road by tracking real-world moving traffic and roadside structures.
By letting the onboard module accurately adapt to actual road environments, the system ensures optimal, precision-calibrated emergency braking functionality when it matters most.
Whether it’s bench-testing ECUs or taking precision diagnostics straight to the road, we’ve got your fleet's safety systems fully covered. 🚚💨

Another day, another complex repair. Dealing with an ECU communication failure that had a truck sidelined? We don't just swap parts and hope for the best—we get down to the board level.
Pictured here is a bench-cloning session on a Scania EMD1 module. To be clear, this is an unorthodox swap by Scania’s own standards. I’m currently performing a complete platform conversion, migrating a system from an older S8 architecture (pre-2017) to the newer EMD1 platform (post-2018). Because these generations utilize fundamentally different hardware logic, security structures, and communication protocols, this is a transition the manufacturer never intended to be possible.
However, at KWS TruckTech, we don't settle for "it can't be done." By utilizing advanced bench tools, I’ve bypassed factory lockouts, forced custom configuration files, and manually synchronized the module handshakes to make these two generations speak the same language.
We save our clients time and money by performing complex module programming and fault-finding that goes far beyond standard dealer procedures. Whether it’s module cloning, complex diagnostics, or mobile ADAS calibrations, KWS TruckTech brings the dealer workshop to your yard.

Six Actros units, one hectic day on the yard! 🚛💨🛠️
We’ve been living and breathing Mercedes-Benz air con systems today, tackling a fleet of six Actros trucks with a bit of everything thrown at us:
🔹 2x Pressure Sensor Replacements: Fixing the faulty sensors that were misreporting data and keeping the variable compressors shut down.
🔹 1x Compressor Pump Replacement (Twice!): Don't ask... let's just say aftermarket parts roulette is real, but we got it sorted and blowing ice-cold in the end. 🔄🎯
🔹 2x Blown A/C Radiators (Condensers): Systems completely opened up to the elements. The customer is sourcing the replacement rads, and we'll be back to pull the deep vacuums needed to boil out the trapped atmospheric moisture and flash them back to life.
On these modern variable-displacement systems, a simple "top-up" doesn't cut it. When components fail, the cab modules lock out compressor operation to protect the system. We use dealer-level diagnostics to clear the interlocks, verify live sensor data, and ensure everything communicates exactly as factory intended.
