⚓ We’re at the Royal Yacht Squadron Isle of Wight Foundation Career Fayre today! ⚓

Clare Lallow Ltd is delighted to be attending today’s Career Fayre, showcasing the skills, craftsmanship and career opportunities available within the marine industry here on the Isle of Wight.

We’re looking forward to meeting young people from across the Island and talking to them about the many different routes into the marine industry, from traditional wooden boatbuilding and joinery through to yacht restoration, refit, engineering, composites, painting and varnishing.

With over 150 years of boatbuilding heritage behind us, it’s incredibly important that these specialist skills continue to be passed on to the next generation.

If you’re attending today, come over, say hello and find out a little more about what goes on behind the doors of a traditional Cowes boatyard! ⚓🛥️

COWES WEEK – DAY 7

⛽ We Still Have Unleaded & Diesel ⛽

It was a quieter morning here at the yard, although we still carried out a number of emergency repairs to keep boats on the water for racing today.

The good news is that we still have plenty of unleaded petrol, and today we also received a top-up delivery of diesel, so our fuel berth remains fully operational for both fuels.

We look forward to another busy day supporting the Cowes Week fleet.

Safe sailing to everyone taking to the water today, and we hope you enjoy tonight’s spectacular fireworks!

COWES WEEK – DAY 6

⛽ UNLEADED HAS BEEN DELIVERED ⛽

Yesterday proved to be a quieter day here at the yard, with most of the smaller racing classes abandoned due to the weather. As a result, our workload was limited to a handful of spinnaker pole repairs.

The good news is that we have now taken delivery of 8,000 litres of unleaded fuel, so our fuel berth is once again fully operational for both unleaded petrol and diesel.

We look forward to another busy day supporting the Cowes Week fleets. Safe sailing to everyone taking to the water today.

Laurie, Kevin and the Team.

Day 4 was a little quieter, but the yard still saw plenty of action. We carried out several temporary repairs to keep boats on the water, including an interesting emergency repair to a yacht that had been T-boned Cowes Week This involved a temporary GRP repairs to enable the yacht to continue competing for the remainder of Cowes Week.

The team also completed a number of rigging repairs and recovered several halyards using the cherry picker at the end of the pier.

COWES WEEK – DAY 2

Yesterday afternoon, as the crews of more than 640 competing boats waited in bright sunshine during a two-hour postponement, confidence was high that the forecast 20-knot sea breeze would arrive—and it certainly did.

As racing got underway, Lallows quickly became a hive of activity, with everything from broken masts and damaged spreaders to rigging replacements and collision repairs keeping the team busy.

With plenty of jobs still on the list this morning, we’ll once again be working hard to help as many boats and crews as possible get back on the water.

We hope everyone enjoys another fantastic day’s racing—perhaps with a little less drama for some!

Here are a few photos of a collision-damaged Spirit Yacht that we worked on in the early hours of this morning, making her watertight and ready to race again.
