There’s a new customs requirement coming into place for UK–France crossings from 20 April.

It’s called ELO (Enveloppe Logistique Obligatoire), and it works as a single barcode bringing together all customs data for the journey. It needs to be in place before boarding.

If it’s missing, the vehicle won’t be able to move.

We’ll be sharing a simple checklist to help with this shortly.

Getting 2,000 Christmas trees through customs 🎄

Seasonal freight doesn’t leave much room for error, especially in November, when supply chains are already under pressure.

This consignment got stuck in Calais after concerns were raised about how it was packed for inspection. With peak demand approaching, delays weren’t an option.

Our team stepped in, working closely with customs and stakeholders every day to keep things moving. By staying on top of the situation and maintaining constant communication, we were able to get the shipment back on track and protect the delivery timeline.

It’s a good reminder that when things don’t go to plan, having the right team on it makes all the difference.

Josh has recently joined C4 Logistics as a Freight Forwarder, working on quoting and planning our time-critical shipments across road and air.

With six years’ experience in the freight industry, he has worked across both air and road freight, with a strong focus on critical pharma shipments where timing and temperature control are essential.

Josh has handled a wide range of cargo too, from dangerous goods and hazardous materials through to food products and time-critical warehouse equipment.

A few things you might not know about him:

As we celebrate 25 years in business, it’s made us think about what that really means.

Logistics today looks very different to how it did when we first started. Technology has transformed how we operate, processes have evolved and customer expectations are higher than ever.

What hasn’t changed is the responsibility we take on every time we move something time-critical.

When a leading aerospace engineering company needed an urgent shipment moved from the UK to the US, there was absolutely no room for delay.

The risks?
• Tight collection-to-flight timing
• Potential customs hold-ups on arrival
• Reduced weekend coverage

Exactly the kind of situation where small gaps can turn into big problems.

Our team managed the movement end-to-end, from controlled collection and Heathrow handover, to arranging customs documentation in advance on both sides of the Atlantic, right through to monitored weekend delivery in the US.

In fact, customs planning was already underway before the aircraft had even departed.

When it landed in Los Angeles, documentation was complete, cargo was released quickly and delivery was scheduled, all supported by active weekend oversight.
