Good morning all,

Unfortunately due to the below reasons, the naming ceremony scheduled for this weekend will be postponed to Saturday 28th June. This is an important event for the unit and the team involved want to make sure everything is done properly.

Those who booked free tickets on our website will have their tickets transferred to the new date and receive an email accordingly. A trade stall and the rest of the museum will remain open this weekend. Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience.

A successful bank holiday in Wales!

Electrical work was carried out on board 64571, proving lights, doors and P*S capabilities by our engineering team.

Further roof and bodyside inspections and housekeeping were carried out on the remaining three vehicles in preparation for Project Yellow Submarine: Phase II.

Members of the 315 Club will soon be receiving some exclusive photos and videos of the work undertaken this weekend. To see this yourself, and to help support the unit's continued upkeep, consider adding the 315 Club to your existing membership today!

ACMU Announce the Launch of Project 300!

The ACMU Society (Alternating Current Multiple Unit Society) and Colne Valley Railway are pleased to reveal a new partnership. This partnership will see the ACMU take responsibility for "Project 300" at the CVR, leading the restoration of the hybrid EMU set—featuring the sole surviving Class 312 No.312792, and Class 307 No.307123, with the goal of returning the set to operational passenger-carrying condition. The 312 and 307 will become part of the ACMU's "Meet the Fleet" initiative, bringing two more classes under the unified banner of AC EMU preservation.

SCOTLAND'S CALLING: ANNOUNCEMENT No.2

The ACMU Society is proud to announce the latest addition to its growing Meet The Fleet initative: the last two surviving vehicles of Class 311, unit 311103. This partnership marks another major milestone in the Society’s core mission to bring unity to Overhead Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) preservation.

The Class 311 will continue to be owned and based at The Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, but it will be supported under the Society’s growing umbrella of preserved AC EMUs, which includes all surviving vehicles of units 309624, 315856, 313121 and 317345, all owned by separate organisations but united by the Society, and a common goal of supporting EMU preservation.

The immediate next steps for the Class 311 involve preparations to celebrate its Diamond Jubilee this May, alongside continued weatherproofing and cosmetic restoration by the dedicated core Glasgow Electric Group team, based at the Summerlee Heritage Museum. The ACMU will be supporting this work by sponsoring some key parts of the cosmetic restoration to ensure the vehicles will look their best in time for the event.

SCOTLAND'S CALLING: ANNOUNCEMENT No.1

This weekend we have two very special Scottish Themed announcements for the ACMU Society, as we strengthen our ties north of the border!

First Up, The ACMU Society is proud to announce the launch of The 313 Club, a dedicated support initiative for continued preservation and promotion of Class 313121. The launch of this dedicated fund builds upon the society’s successful partnership with the Fife Heritage Railway to support the unit, which began last year, initially as a promotion and collaboration agreement.

Supporters can join The 313 Club via the official ACMU Society website. Membership benefits include;
Exclusive Restoration Updates,
Behind-the-scenes progress reports on unit 313121.
Society Shop Discounts, and limited-edition 313121-themed merchandise,
Volunteering Opportunities Invitations to work parties to assist in the cosmetic and mechanical upkeep of the unit.

The immediate next steps for the Class 313 are preparations to celebrate its Golden jubilee this August, along with continued weatherproofing and cosmetic restoration by the dedicated core team at the Fife heritage Railway.

The ACMU will support this work by establishing this dedicated fundraising channel, to ensure the necessary budget is available to complete more work on the vehicles in time for this event.

Three years ago today, 315856 began to arrive at the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway for preservation.

Despite the setbacks our legacy group suffered the same year, the team have been working tirelessly to turn the fortunes of the vehicle, and indeed the whole unit, around. We think it's come a long way since its arrival!

The response from the Great Livery Reveal has been fantastic, and we thank you all. But this is only the beginning. Consider supporting us by buying a membership or donating using the link below. Your support and generosity will help us deliver further results to the Class 315.

The 'Great' Livery Reveal.... IS HERE!

The ACMU (AC Multiple Unit) Society is thrilled to announce the partial repaint of DMS No. 64571 of the sole-preserved Class 315 unit, No. 315856, into First Great Eastern livery.

The repaint work was an unpublished secondary objective of the first phase of Project Yellow Submarine: a rolling series of weatherproofing work on the vehicles' roofs and bodysides, beginning with 10 days of intensive indoor work in January 2026. In December 2025, the ACMU Society launched a corresponding fundraiser to support this work, which successfully met its £1500 goal in just three days.

The ACMU's mission is to promote unity in the EMU preservation space by forming strategic partnerships with owners and organisations who own AC EMU vehicles, providing a single unified point of support, promotion and publicity. The group currently owns 315856 and currently supports 4 other organizations and 3 other preserved AC EMUs.

The first opportunity for the public to access the vehicle is at the LMMR's open day on Saturday, March 14th 2026, with further opportunities to be made available later throughout the year.
