Great work by the teams involved in recovering this caravan and reuniting it with its registered keeper. A strong reminder of how important security solutions like CRiS registration and VIN CHIP forensic security marking are in helping officers quickly confirm stolen vehicles and return them to their rightful owners.
๐๐พ Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team โ Seizure Update ๐พ๐
A varied couple of shifts for the team, resulting in two vehicle seizures over the past two days.
Yesterday, whilst on routine patrol, a van caught our attention due to a faulty light. After stopping to advise the driver, it quickly became apparent that they were transferring waste without the appropriate waste carrierโs licence. The vehicle was also seized for suspected insurance offences.
It is so important that residents and businesses use legitimate, registered waste carriers only. If you are a waste carrier, please ensure you are properly licensed and that your vehicle insurance covers your activities. Taking shortcuts can result in enforcement action.
Today, whilst on a proactive operation in the Lymm area, we were alerted that colleagues from Warrington Local Policing Unit were dealing with an ongoing incident and required additional support.
Whilst on scene, we located and identified a stolen caravan using our CRiS scanner. The caravan, which had been reported stolen 18 months ago, has now been successfully recovered and will be returned to its rightful owner.
As we enter the warmer months, itโs important to review your security measures โ particularly if you are moving caravans to prepare for the new season. Please remain vigilant and remember that layers of security help frustrate criminals who target caravans.
This is also a timely reminder that if you havenโt CRiS registered your caravan, it is well worth doing.
