Heads‑up for Chichester Harbour boat owners 🚨
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain across Sussex on Thu 23 Oct, and the forecast stays unsettled into the weekend for Chichester and the Harbour — think blustery spells, showers, and poor visibility between brighter slots. If you can’t get down, we’ll check your boat for you and send photo proof.
Most damage happens right now — at the end of the season before lift‑out or full winterising — when lines chafe, fenders ride up, covers tear, scuppers block, and batteries quietly die.
What we do in a Storm Check (15–20 mins, photo report):
- Lines: tension, chafe points, springs, backup lines where appropriate
- Fenders: height/spacing, add chafe protection if on hand
- Covers/sails: sail ties, halyards snug, canopies zipped/secured
- Deck/cockpit: blocked scuppers, loose kit, dinghy/paddleboard lashings
- Hatches/portlights: shut and latched
- Shore power: connected and strain‑relieved; bilge pump light check if visible
Covering the whole Harbour:
- Chichester Marina, Birdham Pool, Itchenor Reach, Bosham Channel, Dell Quay, Emsworth & Thornham, Sparkes
Book a check now for Fri–Sun (24–26 Oct): https://tally.so/r/woXEa1
We’ll confirm ETA by WhatsApp, attend in a safe weather window, and send photos when done.
Stay safe and keep your boat off the casualty list this weekend.
